Error 80070002 on image deployment after making changes to deploy from DP instead of HD

$

Hi everyone got an issue.  I had a working windows 8.1 task sequence, until I modified the following:

Image -Data Access-Checked Copy the content in this package to a package share on the Distribution Points

Task sequence-Apply Operating System-Checked Access content Directly from the Distribution point.

Now when I deploy I get an error 80070002.  I did the exact same settings on my Windows 7 images and they work fine.

I would attach the log file, but when I past it I am prevented by the size of it.

OSD boots into OS instead of continuing task sequence

I have never seen this with Windows XP or Windows 7....

I have created a custom task sequence that installs Windows 8.1 Ent. x64 but after the OS is installed it loads the OS. If I select the back arrow on the login screen it then goes back to a cmd windows that shows the task sequence being run. Am I missing something? Is there a task sequence variable to disable the "auto logon" if that is in fact what's happening?

Offline Servicing

Is there a resource that lists what updates are part of CBS and thus available for offline servicing?

Specifically, I am trying to troubleshoot why some updates are not included in our base image after completing offline servicing successfully.  The updates are .NET security updates. . .

Thanks,

SCCM with MDT - Two Language Preferences Deployed

$

Hi,

When I change the OSD regional settings via customizesettings.ini the machine ends up with two language preferences, English (UK) and English (US).

SkipLocaleSelection=YES
InputLocale=0809:00000809
SystemLocale=en-GB
UILanguage=en-GB
UserLocale=en-GB

I'm using the default unattend.xml file which is generated when creating a MDT task sequence.

Is there a way to not deploy English (US)?

  • Client OS: Windows 8.1
  • SCCM 2012 R2
  • MDT 2013 integrated with SCCM

Thanks for any help.

SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1 Windows 10 Offline Servicing shows no updates available

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this, You click schedule updates on a Windows 10 image and shows no updates available. I know have approved Windows 10 updates as I have several clients getting this updates.

I think this may be in the culprit as why no updates show up.  If I look in the SMSProv.log I see this line which may be the culprit

"ExecQueryAsync: COMPLETE select * from SMS_UpdateCategoryInstance where LocalizedCategoryInstanceName like '%Windows vNext Preview%'"

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this next step is most likely calling support.

I'm trying to deploy via multicast and have followed all the directions to set everything up.  However, I try it and get an error 0x80004005 and it then goes to unicast.  It tries to setup the session, and bombs out with that error.

Issues with OSD from Software Center because of multiple network segments

Have issues withOSDwhen installationis started from theOSand notinstallmedia.The problemoccurs because the computeris onone network segmentwhen it isin the OS and another when inWinPE.

Thatin itselfmakes theTSunableto downloadanycontentbecause itonlytries toconnect to theDP'sthat are not availablein thisnetwork segment.

Would like to ensure that the inspection is conductedimmediately after the computer has been booted into WinPE again so that it recognizesthat it is on a different network segment and only has access to adifferent set ofDP's. Or if there is another way to do it. And no,there is no possibilityto make allDP availableinall network segments.

I am grateful for all the wise suggestions and ideas but as I said, we can not move the DP's and needed them in both network segments. Data can't be moved between segments.

Dell E5450 PXE Boot Issues

$

Hello,

I am trying to image Dell Latitude E5450 laptops but its rebooting just at preparing network connections window. I know this should be related to Drivers. So, have integrated network drivers from Dell CAB files as well as from the Intel Support website.

However, strangely this is still the same and rebooting at the same spot. I had made sure to update the boot image on the DP server but for some reasons, this doesn't work at all.

Same boot image works for other laptops and models so this is something with these new model.

The smsts.log have the following errors :

.............................................................................................................................................................................................

this->open(), HRESULT=80070002 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\framework\tscore\environmentlib.cpp,553)

Failed to download pxe variable file. Code(0x00000001)
PxeGetPxeData failed with 0x80004005

.............................................................................................................................................................................................

As was checked locally on the system. It has the network card Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I218-LMbut my Boot Image have the latest version of Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-LM integrated already. I tried but could not findI218-LM driver anywhere as the official page redirected to the latest version ofI217-LM only.

Have found some links on the web for PXE issues with the same model but none seem to resolve the error as all of them pointed to the Intel Network drivers which I had integrated from some time now.

Any suggestions?

On Console, "Operating System Installers" option is missing

I am using SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 and just started to test OSD feature of SCCM. All tutorials and articles I could find is saying that I need to click add Operating System Installer by following the the steps below:

we will add Operating system installer. In the CM console, click on Software Library, under Operating Systems right click Operating System Installers and select Add Operating System Installer.

In my console there is no Operating System Installer option. I have "Operating System Images" option and "Operating System Upgrade Packages" option, instead. My question is "How can I add Operating System Installer"?

Thanks and Regards

Troubleshooting OSD Software Packages that aren't deploying during task sequence

$

Hi,

During the SCCM OSD task sequence on a PXE booted client, I select the software packages I want to deploy (these come from a collection in SCCM Console on server) and continue with the task sequence.

Once the OS has deployed (W7 Enterprise 64bit), I should then be able to check that all software packages selected during OSD have installed. The issue I'm having is one particular software package (Microsoft MBAM 2.5) doesn't always deploy correctly, as in, the directory it should be installed in (C:\Program Files\Microsoft\MDOP MBAM) is non existent. This seems to be the case on the majority of clients I build using the same task sequence, and I end up having to deploy it from the SCCM console afterwards instead. Other software packages I select to install seem to install ok, have never had any issues thus far.

I am not experienced in the server-side setup of SCCM, so going by what I've found on TechNet forums, I have checked the most appropriate log files using CMTrace, and cannot findany sign of "MBAM" in the files I checked. Can anyone possibly point me in the right troubleshooting directions here? If you could provide some insight on the most appropriate log files I should be checking, particular items to look for, and possibly why the MBAM package may not be rolling out out all, would be most helpful!

Thanks in advance for your help, if you need any further info, let me know and I will provide as such.

Jamie

P.S. Link to photo of the software list in OSD task sequence is attached for clarification of the method I am using.

Edit: Cannot seem to embed links or photos at the moment as Microsoft is "verifying my account"...

Driver package bloat - realtek high definition audio

$

Hi,

Not a massive issue, but has anyone else noticed weird behaviour when importing the Realtek HD Audio driver into SCCM? It creates 18 seperate driver items in SCCM.

Looking at the driver source, it does seem like there are a load of .inf files, so I'm presuming this is why. Anyone else encountered this, and if so, was there anything you have done to work around it?

Thanks,

Iain

How to inject drivers in the Windows 10 upgrade task sequence

$

Hello There,

I used this article (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt426642(v=vs.85).aspx) and created a Windows 10 upgrade task sequence. This works perfectly fine, but the only issue is that I cannot inject driver packages to this task sequence. I have a few flavour of Lenovo laptops with different driver models.

Windows 10 installs most of the drivers during the upgrade, but some of the video drivers are not installing since they are not in the Windows package. Please advise if you have any suggestions that may help in my situation.

Thanks,

Advise for SystemLocale in MUI Image

$

Hi everyone,

I have a customer which wants to go international and wants to install computers in another country.

We'll be using an MUI image and we'll specify the different locales + keyboard settings in the unattend.xml file based on Collection variables in the Task Sequence.

Question: What do you advise for the SystemLocale in a MUI environement? Keep it "en-US" for all countries or go specific for each country?

I know it specifies the default language to use for non-Unicode programs, but I'm not aware of the impact of changing this setting? Will the SystemLocale maybe be used (incorrectly?!) by MSI setups etc to determine the language of the installer/logfile,..? Or is another default locale responsable for this setting?

Thanks in advance!
