Once a Prestaged Vendor WIM file has been created from SCCM 2012SP1, how is this to be applied to a Disk which a Vendor can then clone onto 1,000s of PCs.
The WIM should not be imaged to the disk(?)
My understanding is that the PCs, once pre-stage image applied, are turned on, they will PXE to an SCCM Server to receive policy and select a Task Sequence.
The Task Sequence will then execute and extract all images (including Boot WIM and O/S WIM) plus all task sequence packages from its local hard disk (OSD Cache) instead of the local DP.
Thus the build should take 10min instead of a hour.
How is the hard Disk imaged? and what special steps are then needed in the Build Task Sequence?
Also, the PCs are all UEFI BIOS and we wish to have a Prestart command pop up that will run a HTA to prompt for a machine name.
So in short we are trying to determine the steps that happen after we have created the WIM from SCCM. So we can test it the same way the vendor would load it and the task sequence to complete the build of the PC.
Thanks,
Ward.
