OSD Not working on some machines

Hi all,

I have a problem with a particular batch of PC's. I am unable to use OSD. I have added all the drivers for the units and others known to man but still no joy.

The common factor with all these PC's is they all have the same SMGUID. However I have followed KB259148, Banned the GUID and the PC's now boot at least. However the boot into PE and the Task Sequence box appears, Starting Computer, Initializing Hardware Devices, Preparing Network Connections and then it restarts.

I can determine it is only these PC's with the same GUID as I can OSD using the same Task Sequence, Boot Image and correct drivers to other machines with unique GUID's fine and the deployment works every time.

I have had a scan through the SMSPXE.LOG and can see it complains about a Task Sequence.

There
are no task sequences available to this computer.. Please ensure you have at least one task sequence advertised to this computer.

Unspecified error
(Error: 80004005; Source: Windows)

and

RegOpenKeyExW
failed for Software\Microsoft\SMS\Task Sequence

GetTsRegValue()
failed. 0x80070002.

I cannot understand it and I’m lead to thinking it has something to do with the PC's having duplicated SMGUID's. However I would have expected it to work after following the KB article for a fix.

Here is a snipped of the SMSTXT.LOG

I have contacted the motherboard manufacture’s for a utility to replace and randomize the SMGUID but they aren’t very forthcoming.

I'm at my whits end with it now as other deployments work fine so leads me to be able to rule out SCCM configuration as an issue.

Thanks
