USMT Hardlink single folder only

Hi All,

I have been using USMT for about 1 year rolling out Win 7 from XP for my organisation and its been working well, but due to our network we have had to use hard links as it kept failing otherwise.

Now we have a different problem we have 300 PCs that are in remote branches and these were supposed to be clean wipes no USMT but after doing about 30 we have had uses complain they have lost desktop files. (under our IT policy they should have nothing there but sadly these remote sites can cause us a lot of grief if we don't help them out.)

The USMT scripts I have were written by another company they had experience with them.

What I wanted to know is could I make a new USMT script that hard links a single folder on the drive that I created in the task sequence?

This is the Xcopy batch I have made:

“xcopy "c:\Documents and Settings\*.*" c:\XPDesktops_BACKUP /d:01-01-2014 /O /X /E /K /y /exclude:exclude.txt”

Here is the Exclude.txt:

*'s documents*\

favorites\

start menu\

userdata\

my documents\*

This keeps down the size by only getting files from this year and is keeping ACL.

So I would need the USMT to only capture XPDesktops_Backup folder and allow the OSD wipe everything else.

Cheers,
