OS image scheduled offline updates not recognising existing updates?

I created a Windows 7 OS image using build and capture. During the build and capture I added all the MS patches until July 2014. I then imported this OS image and right clicked on it and selected "Schedule Updates". It presented me with a list of over 200 updates !!! Doesnt schedule updates recognise existing updates in an image? And If not, If I try to apply them will it realise it exists and not apply it again and not offer it to me again?
