Apply Operating System Image - only uses single core?

Here is a university and we have number of images that are sized around 40~60G(120G extracted) with all the teaching products included in for each department. We include applications in the image to save the installation time and pre-config settings for users.

I notice that the whole imaging process in WinPE (first boot) only uses single core - extracting content files from OS image and driver packs. This seems a little bit poor performance utilization because we have quad core machines that only use a single core to do 1hour ~ 3hour imaging tasks.

Is there a switch that we can enable using multicore for WIM extraction for SCCM OS deployment.
