When computer is reinstalled using task sequence following actions are performed (amongst others):
- Computer is restarted to WinPE
- SCCM client starts task sequence
- Required content is downloaded to C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages
I can modify WinPE so between 1st and 2nd of above steps required content is copied to C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages. But as I observe this content is deleted and SCCM client downloads a new one from DP.
Is there any way to change this behaviour? To make SCCM client check the content of C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages and download only missing files?
I have a situation when I have a few branch offices with only NAS appliance and I would like to copy SCCM packages to this NAS (especially WIM file with Windows) and then during task sequence use this local content. And avoid downloading it through WAN link.
In smsts.log I have an entry "The machine does not have a local client cache.". So maybe I should copy these files to some other location then C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages?
