I have a basic task sequence deploying a new gold image (Win7x64 SP1 - blank), applying DELL drivers, and then trying to install Office 2007 Pro Plus and a few other packages.
The issue is that when it finishes the "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" task it gets to the "Install Office 2007 Pro Plus" task, downloads the setup files, and then SMSTS.log shows a bunch of "Waiting for job status notification" messages...
The logs don't show any errors that I can attribute to this and it doesn't seem to matter which package it tries to install first. They all hang there.
