Driver Task Sequence with Apps pre-installed

I need to get a Securely Configured Image deployed to 2 different machine types, based on role.  Due to a time crunch, infrastructure shortcomings, and personnel shortage each image will need to have applications included as part of the image.  There 10 different hardware types, which brings up the issue of drivers.  I am being told that we cannot have the applications included in the image and have a task sequence run to install drivers.  Is this accurate?  What are my options at this point?
