OSD Server 2012 R2 Support in SCCM 2012 SP1

Hello, we currently have SCCM 2012 SP1 installed.  Will this support Server 2012 R2 OSD?  Or do we have to upgrade to CU3 for this to work?  I found the below link, but it seemed questionable.  Will some feature work currently for 2012 R2 deployment on SCCM 2012 R2?  Or will it not work at all?  What will I be missing for OSDs if not upgrading SCCM 2012 SP1 to CU3?
