Hey all, I've got a brand new SCCM 2012 installation and I can't get it working. I installed a long list of pre-reqs, did the install, and created a new task sequence media job to capture a system's image. I updated my DHCP scope settings and turned off my old WDS server. Now I get a timeout when the system tries to PXE boot, at the TFTP stage.
So I downloaded a TFTP client and, sure enough, I can't connect to my distribution point (which is also my sccm server (stand-alone install)), over ftp. I presume that's the problem, but googling how to enable tftp on SCCM has gotten me no-where.
Can you smart people help?
Thanks,
Joe
Problem with capturing image. Logs included.
Also after deploying letters are swapped. System is on D drive, and data on C drive.
Any idea ?
Hi,
Is there a way/step to trigger (at the end of the task sequence) an install of all assigned (available and mandatory) deployments to a pc?

Im using MDT with SCCM 2012 R2 to make a tasksequence.
The tasksequence runs and installs my "fresh" Windwos 8.1 image, but it's not using the settings created by the MDT UDI Wizard Designer.
I'm using the "UDIWizard_Config.xml" template in UDI. It save the settings to a "UDIWizard_Config.XML" file.
I can't find the link from the task sequence to this file.
I can find a link from the task sequence to the other UDI settings files, like "CustumSetting.ini" and "Unattend.xml".
I'ts this Unattend.xml file that should have all the changed settings from UDI, but it probably doesn't work that way
Thanks for your reply.
USMT is failing to create the .mig file on some of my systems and the TS just continues and formats losing user data.
The only error that stands out is [0x000000] Canceled due to an I/O error.[gle=0x00000006].
I need USMT to bail the TS in these cases! I cant believe there is not a check and balance for the .mig file not being created!
Or is there a check/balance variable Im missing?????????
Let me know if the logs are needed.

I use MDT 2013 to build reference images, and SCCM to deploy them, as I'm sure most people do. I get a folder left behind in the Users folder: C:\users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp. The folder is empty, so I'm not sure how to figure out how to find what's leaving it there. I've seen other folders where a Java log file is left behind, but no such luck with me.
It's happened with a Windows 7 image, as well as a Windows 8.1 image.
Hi,
We have some Windows XP machines with a SCCM 2007 client, connected to a SCCM 2007 server. Meanwhile some client are already migrated to Windows 7 but still connected to SCCM 2007 (and their packages/collections).
Now we would like to:
-migrate the Windows 7 machines to SCCM 2012 and keep their packages (so no re-run of advertisements) run
-migrate the Windows XP machines by migrating the SCCM 2007 clients then advertise a task sequence (Windows 7) to it
Questions:
-should we push the sccm client from 2007 or from 2012 server to keep the membership of collections?
-if we have to push from 2007, please advise howto: use ccmsetup.exe, the msi (is this the way to go: http://blog.metasplo.it/2012/10/how-to-upgrade-sccm-2007-clients-to.html)?
Please advise.

We have a specific model of computer (Dell Latitute 2120) that will suddenly drop the network while its downloading the OS wim image. It fails at no specific percentage while downloading. While the wim is downloading, I can press F8 and start a continuous ping to the DP. Everything will be fine, then suddenly pings will drop and the image fails.
The smsts.log shows:

Other systems use this same TS and OS image just fine. Its something specific to this model, from what I can tell.
Ive tried setting the the following variables:
With no luck. Also I already have the "Enable Wake-up proxy" to set No under client settings. (I cant find the article on that at the moment). The nic is a "Broadcom NetXtreme". I tried different drivers in the boot image but it doesnt help any either.
Id appreciate any help with this.
SCCM 2012 R2
Thanks.
Hi,
Some while ago I update SCCM 2012 R2 with a hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2910552/nl
It installed a new version of SCCM 2012 client.
Since then I cannot install SCCM 2012 client to SCCM 2007 clients (upgrade) via push client in console.
Please advise.

I have a peculiar issue. I created a new task sequence to go along with a newer OS image captured (in theory I know I should not have had to, rather just replace the wim file in the original task sequence but I ran into issues there). I deleted the old task sequence yet it still appears when I boot up and go to deploy. The actual task sequence is nowhere to be found in the Console. Where would this be leftover at? I confirmed in looking at Deployments to "All Unknown Computers" collection and the one other collection it would be related to but it is not there, nor should it be since it was deleted... yet it still shows up. Is there some database location that it wasn't properly removed from? Does it take time to replicate this simple information and actually disappear? I didn't think Task Sequences need to replicate anywhere since they wouldn't get distributed to DP's since clients actually talk to the main site server for TS location. My experience is that changes to task sequences, adding/deleting/changing a name or description is pretty quick to reflect when I subsequently boot up and go to deploy. Something is amiss here and I'd like to know where I can find this ghost entry and kill it.
Thanks,
Ryan

I'm using ConfigMgr 2012 R2 w/ MDT 2013 for imaging. I have BitLocker encrypted laptops being returned that I want to re-image as "new computers". No USMT.
At present I am brining up the command prompt prior to selecting my desired task sequence and manually formatting the drive with diskpart. Obviously this is not desired. What are my options in terms of telling my "New Computer" TS to immediately format the drive before any other actions are taken?
Good Morning,
I am trying to upgrade an XP Machine to Windows 7 (x86). I was using the boot image inbuilt with SCCM 2012 R2 but read that it wont work correcltly. I am using Windows PE 3.1 boot image to boot.
The TS fails after trying to restart in Windows PE when staging the boot image.
From the Logs in CCM\Logs\SMSTSLog
I am still getting the same issue as when i am using the Boot image from ADK 8.1.
Anybody has an idea on how to solve this issue ? I have read a workaround about replacing the bootsect from the boot image but funily i am using an older boot image.
Kind Regards,
Mathieu
Dear All,
We have SCCM 2012 R2 and are doing OS migration , Windows XP to Windows 7 , The task run fine while take a backup to restore point after that it restarts to WinPE mode, post doing restart it completes the format and then failes with error code 80070002,
The prime error that repeats in smsts.log is as below
[TSMESSAGING] AsyncCallback(): WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_SECURE_FAILURE Encountered
[TSMESSAGING] : WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_FLAG_INVALID_CA is set
Extract from the log file is
<![LOG[Analyzing 1 Chain(s) found]LOG]!><time="23:06:14.940-240" date="03-27-2014" component="TSManager" context="" type="0" thread="3440" file="ccmcert.cpp:4447">I have checked all the post that show talk about 800728f8 , we have a our Root CA and Subordinate CA and in the Console all the certificate have been specified, Also the DP is confirgured to work in HTTPS only,
In dire need of help , hoping the someone would reply,

I have so many threads on this I can't keep them straight. I am sick and tied of this Microsoft BS. I have followed the Windows-Noob and other web sites to the letter on how to create a build/capture .WIM image within CM2012.
NO MATTER WHAT I DO THE OS INSTALLS TO D:\WINDOWS I'm sorry to offend but this is total CRAP!!
windows-Noob web page http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6353-using-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-part-7-build-and-capture-windows-7-x64-sp1/ I've done this and it does not work.
I have watched YouTube video's and nothing I do works.
All I want to do is create a .WIM image that I can then Deploy via MDT/UDI to our environment. If the INSTALL.WIM that ships with Windows 7 defaults to D:\ then why even put it in there? What use is it?
When I create my CM2012 Build & Capture Task Sequence I only have 1 option which is to Use "IMAGE PACKAGE" Which only allows you to use a .WIM file and from what I've read you are supposed to grab the .WIM
from the Windows 7 soruce CD. But that does not work since it defaults to D:\Windows. So how do you do this?
I need to have a WIM image that I can then deploy using MDT/UDI but it seems impossible to create a build and capture WIM. I appriciate all the posts others have given me but none of them work. I've now spent 7 days and about 100 hours trying to create one damn image so either I'm retarded or there is something wrong with our environment or this sh!t does not work.
I did all of this in SCCM 2007 no probably, in fact it took about 4 hours to get it all done and working. What is so secret about CM2012?
Hello,
i'm using a MDT task sequence to install windows 7 on bare metal computers.
i have to set environment for client to use french keyboard but i see that newly installed systems use english keyboard.
i tried changing parameters in unattend.xml file the result is that now i have an additional language for keyboard which is french, but english is still default languages.
i'm using MDT 2013 and SCCM 2012 R2
how to fix that?
Best regards.
Good Morning,
My client has a Config Manager 2012 R2 installed, with ADMT 8, MDT 2012 update 1 and the WINPE3.1 support patch installed on the SCCM server.
He's captured and built his own Windows 7 Pro x86 WIM file with some built-in drivers and softwares and deploying it alone works like magic.
Now, when he tries to perform an XP to 7 deloyment it failes. this is the task real quick:
Capture Windows Settings, Capture Network Settings, Set Local State Location, Set USMT Additional Capture (which is the OSDMigrateAdditionalCaptureOptions variable with /nocompress and /hardlink), Capture User Files and Settings (Using USMT package which saves everything to a share on the SCCM server), Reset in Windows PE, Apply Operating System (Location is Disk 0 Partition 1), Apply Windows Settings, Apply Network Settings (Joins in a domain), Apply Device Drivers, Setup Windows and Configuration (Using the Config Manager Client Upgrade 6), Set USMT Additional Restore, Retore User Files and Settings.
I'll be adding the smsts.log from the latest attemp in the following post. if you need anything else, be it a file or any answer, please tell me.
Thank you for any insight you may grant.
Hello,
i'm having a very strange issue, i had installed a second DP in my environment, all looked to work fine, but now my clients using PXE boot refer to that new server when doing PXE boot, even if my DHCP is setup to refer to my first server (with option 66).
i tried to uninstall the second DP, it lead to another behavior, client keep stuck on DHCP discovery during boot. I have to disconnect the new DP to see things working normally.
I'm using windows server 2012 R2 and SCCM 2012 R2.
Hello,
I've created a master image via SCCM OSD. I would like to be able to PXE boot and capture that master image. I don't want to use a capture media like USB or CDROM.
I would like to automate the capture. My current master machine isn't joined to the domain. I created a test task sequence of Build and Capture. I disabled the "Build" section. I deployed the task sequence. When I PXE boot I'm able to choose my Task Sequence but I get all kinds of errors.
Is this idea I have even possible?
Using SCCM 2012 on Server 2012. Client machines are Win 7 Ent. and Win 8 VMs.
Thank you,
Brian
