continue failed client migration

$

Hello,

I am trying to find info about what to do if our client migration (for example from XP to 7) failed during OS image applying, for example because of power failure. We have 2 TS: one for migration using SMP and one for migration using hardlinks. TS saves users files to SMP or locally and imaging fails. What need I to do to restart migration and restore previously captured files? I suppose what I need to copy both TS and disable step (group) which captures user files. If migration fails, I run copy of  TS with disabled capturing (using PXE), it installs system and restores user files. If computer damages, I can create computer association in the console and files will be restored on the new computer. Will it work? Is it good practice? Or I need to manually install a new system and use loadstate.exe to restore files?

Schedule Updates (offline) into WIM file greyed out

I've got a problem with my CM2012 that I'm hoping someone can help with.

I've got my WIM file and the updates are all synchronised, but when I try to use the schedule updates to inject offline updates into the WIM, the buttons are greyed out (see snippet) do anyone have any idea about this?

Issues with State Migration Point during OSD. But not when in windows

Hi everyone, I've had some terrible issues with my SCCM 2012 SP1 SMP that I would say is a bit anoying.
I have two servers installed as sitesystems, the first one is a site server with MP, SUP, SMP, DP etc. and the second one is only a DP and SMP.

When the clients is requesting state store from the server that is _only_ a smp and a dp, the client gets no bad answers from it.

I can no longer PXE boot certain machines and access my CM2012 server

$

I'm having a really difficult problem.   I have 3 ports in my office that are on subnet x.x.141.x   Our CM2012 server is also on x.x.141.x  I can boot up one of the workstations that are on these 3 ports, log into Windows and I see that DHCP did give me the correct IP address.  x.x.141.190
I can ping back to the CM2012 server too.  But when I reboot and PXE boot it tries to start DHCP and fails.  All 3 ports in my office are no longer able to PXE boot up to the CM2012 server.   So I figured CM2012 was the issue.  It is Not. I then did a PXE boot on a VMWare machine which is also on the x.x.141.x subnet and it Does find our CM2012 server and I can build an OSD image.  I see the Task Sequence I want to build, choose it and it all works.

10 days ago all 3 ports in my office worked and I was able to PXE of each of them.   Now I get this error.

"Selected boot device failed. Press any key to reboot."

I asked our Network tech and he said nothing has changed.   He and I went into the server room to double check and nothing has changed.

What is causing this?  As I said I can boot up any of the physical machines on the 3 ports in my office, get authenticated by our Domain and log in.  Once logged in I can ping the CM2012 server.  And DHCP does give me the correct x.x.141.x addresses when I log in.

I'm stumped on this and need assistance

Running BGInfo during Task Sequence not loading.

$

I am trying the stock method at the moment: In my Task Sequence at the very start I have the "Use Toolkit Package with MDT2012 package".  Im then running run command line with:
cscript.exe "%SCRIPTROOT%\ZTISetBackground.wsf" /image:1
I see a brief CMD window for half a second but the BGinfo doesnt pop up it still has my PE background.  The logfile said ZTISetBackground.wsf could not find the BGinfo.exe although the toolkit package has been used and not modified.

This a non MDT Task Sequence but one I have made in SCCM2012SP1.

Are there any other ways to get this going?

Is it possible to redirect wdsnbp.com request to dhcp option 250 port 4011?

We have SCCM Primary Site 2010 R2.

The PXE environment for Symantec, SCCM and Linux will be redirected to Linux PXE server. Symantec is now working only the SCCM that needs to be addressed.

The issue is SCCM tftp download wdsnbp.com then asks for DHCP option 250 to tftp server directly on port 4011.  Altiris does not.

Is it possible to redirect wdsnbp.com request to dhcp option 250 port 4011?

Task Sequence to Run powershell script to join computer to domain and rename

$

Should I run a powershell script in an OSD task sequence by using a "Command" (cmd /c powershell.exe etc..) or what's the best way to do it?

This is the code I'm trying to implement in order to join a computer to the domain and rename it on the domain. In the event the computer object already exist in the domain, I'm hoping this function switch would allow it to still join using an existing AD computer object name.
Unless there is a better way without using netdom?

My task sequence fails when I try running a "command" task that runs cmd /c powershell.exe and unc path to this ps1 file containing this code. So I'm not sure if the code sucks or if my OSD task method sucks.

TS - software updates - not updating properly

Hi

When running a windows install via TS I really want the computer to be completely finished when it completes the TS.. but nooooo... when I log in to a client and check windows update.. there's ALWAYS around 100 updates waiting..

My TS steps are as follows (the relevant ones)

What am I missing?

I feel I've tried all kinds of different approaches but still nothing..

ideas?

Kindest regards, Martin
