Updating Default user profile

Hi

I am sure someone here has done this via sccm. I have to push some changes that are HKEY_Current_user settings. I'd to load the settings into the default user profile so all user who login get these settings.

Below are the regkeys I'd like to set for all users, is there a way to accomplish this in sccm?

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mov\UserChoice]
"Progid"="Applications\Duo.exe"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mp4\UserChoice]
"Progid"="Applications\Duo.exe"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.avi\UserChoice]
"Progid"="Applications\Duo.exe"

I tried this.

reg load "hku\defuser" "C:\Users\Default\NTUSER.DAT"

imported the keys below

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\defuser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mov\UserChoice]
"Progid"="Applications\Duo.exe"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\defuser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.mp4\UserChoice]
"Progid"="Applications\Duo.exe"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\defuser\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.avi\UserChoice]
"Progid"="Applications\Duo.exe"

and then I unload hive

reg unload "hku\defuser"

this looks right to me but it didn't work. I am always looking for a better way to do things in sccm any advice would be appreciated. On how to get hkcu settings to all users. using sccm.

How to enable Dell TPM with task sequence SCCM 2012

I have followed just about every how to I can find to enable and activate the Dell TPM using CCTK. The problem is that it fails every time, whether installing the WinPE HAPI drivers or setting the BIOS password. From everything that I have seen, my run commands are correct. This leads me to believe that my package has files missing/I am not pointing to the right file in the package?

I created two subfolders within my CCTK package, the x86 and x86_64. However, nothing I have read tells me where to place/what to do with the CCTK configuration file I exported.

Any help would be fantastic!

RBAC Importing computers with collection limiting Problem

Hi All

We are performing some testing in our deployment environment.

We would like to give helpdesk some basic rights so they can add computers With mac and pc name.

We created a collection for our desktop computers (query only on system resource name "DE-%" named Desktop DE Computers) so that only desktop computers are member of this collection.

Our Deployment collections are limited to the collection Desktop DE Computers.

I've created a Security Role - import Computer Role - with the following rights:

Collection - Read,Modify,Modify Resource,Read Resource

Site - Read,Import Computers

I've created an administrative group - Helpdesk

Added the Security role -Import Computer Role- to the Administrative group -Helpdesk

Security Scope: I've added the default security scope and all my deployment collection(s) and also the collection "Desktop DE Computers"

Now our helpdesk is able to add new computers to my deployment collection(s) and also add existing computers to my deployment collection(s).

But there is a big problem , with the settings above our helpdesk can also Add the collection "Desktop DE Computers” to our deployment collection(s)

I cannot figure it out how to remove that right?

Does someone has a solution for this (is there another approach)?, I am lost in this one

Regards

USMT with USB NIC

I'm looking for some insight on how others have done USMT, side-by-side, with reused USB NICs.  I would like to create computer associations to make this a very automated process, but I can't use the MAC address as the NIC it will detect gets reused by the technicians.  Does anyone have a workaround that they use for this scenario?

Best, Jacob I'm a PC.

Does anyone know how to change the image name and description of images inside a .WIM file using DISM?

Hello,

I am trying to consolidate my .WIM files by following the guide here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/cameronk/archive/2010/04/29/consolidating-your-task-sequence-part-1-how-to-combine-wim-images-into-one.aspx

The problem is that ImageX has been depreciated, and I can't find the equivalent commands in DISM for changing the image name and description. On that blog post, ImageX is used like this: imagex /info Win7Combined.WIM 1 "Win7(x86)""Windows 7 x86", but I cannot find the same commands in DISM.

Specific model not picking up advertisements

The other week I went to add the Powershell module to our Boot Images

We encountered an error trying to do that, so we gave up, and built new boot images just to be safe.

After doing so, and triple checking everything was exactly as had been previously, we now have one specific model of computer that won't pick up advertisements.

We have repeatedly confirmed the computer entry is in the collection, we have removed and re-added the computer and re-added it to the collection, yet it still will not pick up the advertisement. We have done this multiple times with multiple computers of the same model, all with zero success.

I give up. Hive-mind, help!

Problems with PXE boot on Hyper-V Guests

Problem

I am encountering a strange scenario when using System Center Configuration Manager R2. If I create a new virtual machine with Hyper-V (Generation 1) I am unable to get the virtual machine to load the boot wim file.

The PXE process looks normal and the Virtual Machines starts to load the boot wim file but only loads around 3-10% before it fails. It then exits with the following message: “Windows Failed to start. A recent hardware change or software change might be the cause”

Status: 0xc0000001

Info: A required device isn’t connected or can’t be accessed.

However there is NO PROBLEM if I use a physical machine or a Generation 2 Hyper-V virtual machine with the same boot image and task sequence.

  Client Setup

Gen1-VM is setup like this:

Memory: 4096MB (dynamic memory disabled)  CPU: 2 Virtual Processors Legacy Network Adapter IDE DISK

Gen2-VM is setup like this:

Memory: 4096MB (dynamic memory disabled)  CPU: 2 Virtual Processors Network Adapter SCSI DISK

Server Setup

A Single standalone primary site site running Server 2012 R2 with 4 Virtual CPU’s and 16GB of RAM (dynamic memory disabled). The database is located on another virtual machine but on the same physical host (test vm’s are also running on the same hyper-v host). The server is using HTTP traffic and multicast has been disabled. The WDS feature has been automatically installed by SCCM. The “RamDiskTFTPBlockSize” reg key is set to the default 1024 (400 HEX). UAC and Windows Firewall has been disabled while testing.

Log Files

I noticed that when the WDS service starts it give me some errors in the SMSPXE log. The same error is reported for all my boot images. I attempted to redistribute the boot images but without success. Other than the errors below, I don’t see many errors.

Assign right drive letter

Hi Team,

Looking for some guidance to assign drive letter to drives during OS deployment. We are using Config manager 2012 R2 with MDT integrated TS. We are doing Offline\standalone media (using USB) deployments for baremetal machines. USB is taking D drive but we need secondary partition to get D as drive letter.

So OSDisk is fine and getting 'C' as drive letter but Data drive has 'E' drive letter which we need to have as 'D' once deployment is over .

D drive is occupied by USB device since it is standalone media deployments. Any pointers will be apperciated.

Install application step on task sequence - application does not appear in the application list

Hi,

I am trying to create a build and capture task sequence and add some application installation steps in the process.

On Install the following applications step when I click the star to choose which applications I want to install, Office 2010 application is not listed there, even though it is available in software library and and I've been installing it successfully from application catalog.

I tried changing the setting "Allow this application to be installed from the Install Application task sequence action instead of deploying it manually", but it had no effect.

PC rebuilds successfully but is still bitlockered (although bitlocker suspended)

Want to "unbitlocker" operating system drive during pc refresh.  When rebuilding a bitlockered pc the task sequence should be disabling bitlocker and leaving the newly built drive as unencrypted.  This worked fine for a similar task sequence using SCCM 2007.  With the 2012 task sequence the pc builds ok but the drive is still encrypted with bitlocker just suspended.

Any ideas??  Let me know any log files I should post.

Thanks.

Dear all, we are facing a issue with applications not being installed during OSD. We have SCCM 2012 CU2. The issue happens only on one hardware model and testing the OSD we noticed that the SCCM client get's corrupted in 50% of the cases. In cases where the client has not problem we see the first application in the task sequence failing with error - Policy Evaluation failed, hr=0x87d00267   in smsts log.

Has anyone faced this issue. Can someone suggest what could be tried? Below are the smsts logs from the problematic machine.

MDT 2013 & SCCM 2012 R2 - Slow MDT Download

MDT Use toolkit package inside of OSD takes a very long time to download.<br>

MDT is only around 40mb total size, so i can't understand why it's taking so long on only this section.

Typically the use toolkit package where MDT downloads locally inside of OSD takes around 5-7 minutes, each of the files are small in size but the download time is ridiculous! I transfer a 6bg .wim file in 2 minutes when it comes to applying the image so i know the network speed is ok, something is going wrong with the MDT package and downloading it.

Running a normal TS without MDT runs fine, and the image installs ok.

Pulling my hair out with how long MDT takes, it's adding on an extra 15-20 minutes onto my sequence just by downloading toolkit files!

Anyone had similar or know what I may be able to try?

The setup is a lab environment. I have a standalone primary, with local SQL, 1 DP & 3 physical clients.

customize screen resolution ?

$

We are using MDT and UDI and of course CM2012 task sequences to deploy out Windows 7 OS.   When inside of the UDI tool we created the Settings Package.  Within this settings package we have a CustomSettings.INI and within this file we set our screen resolution.

[Settings]
Priority=Default
Properties=MyCustomProperty

[Default]
OSInstall=Y
SkipCapture=YES
SkipAdminPassword=NO
SkipProductKey=YES

BitsPerPel=32
VRefresh=60
XResolution=1280
YResolution=1024

For about 50 machines we need a different screen resolution.  How can I apply a different screen resolution to these 50 machines?   Is this done within the Task Sequence?  For these 50 machines I do have a Seperate "driver package" that gets applied so is there logic there I can use to apply a new resolution?  or can you customize this CustomSettings.INI file?

Hi

i am trying to deploy my image to one of my clients ,  on old machines x86 i was able to deploy it , on the new 64bit machines i had drivers problems so i updated a new boot image (64) as the default and updated it with the fixed drivers
