Hi

I have SCCM 2012 R2 with many task sequence.

It's possible at the end to task sequence to call another task sequence? If yes, do you a link to explain that?

Thanks

SCCM stops at "Set Up Windows" Language Selection Screen

This is my scenario:

1. I'm Using SCCM 2012 R2 w/MDT2013 to deploy Windows 7x64 image that contains 4 languages already injected into the .wim file.

2. The UDI is configured so that users can choose language, time, keyboard and time zone.

3. The image deploys fine but always stops at "Setup Up Windows" phase and prompts for an manual input from the user to choose a " language" even though the language was already selected at the beginning of the UDI sequence. Can anyone help explain why this is occurring and more importantly how to fix it? I've searched through many forum but none with the exact problem I'm having. Once I choose the language again, it continues and the deployment is successful but I would like to avoid this from occurring as it never had in the past. I noticed this behavior since we upgraded to SCCM R2.

Many Thanks!

SCCM Windows 7 Capture - All Updates - timeout bug

I am attempting to do a Build and Capture of Windows 7 32-Bit Enterprise.

The process works perfectly as long as I don't do any windows updates, once those are added then it times out with 0x800705b4. I have been doing a lot of article reading and log reading and I have the cause isolated. I have just 1 updates approved and ready for the image, and in fact this update is downloaded and the system says that the update is scheduled to be installed exactly 24 hours from now, instead of immediately.

I have checked my advertisement, it is set to over-ride maintenance schedules. I am truly stuck on this, where do I find the location of the 24 hour setting?

Also of note, I had a very functional sccm server in the past where all of this had been sorted and working but recently it lost the drive that sccm was installed on and i had to re-install, using the current database. I have worked through a lot of bugs and this is seemingly my final bug, image deploys, scep, etc are all operating without issues.

I have a master wsus server (2012 r2) that sccm uses as the update source.

SCCM 2012 R2 extract failing

$

Greetings all. We're trying to extract a reference machine for OS deployment in SCCM 2012 R2. System is a Dell 3010 with Windows 7 32 bit. We removed the CCM client just in case there was a conflict.

We modified the x86 boot image to enable command support. However, pressing F8 and launching the ISO and catching it at reboot does nothing. The menu comes up, but selecting "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" doesn't get me a command prompt?

Anyway, the snippet below is typical of what we see. The log indicates the machine successfully connected to the share and starts to capture an image and then very quickly bombs with the ...70002 error.

Is it trying to extract something from the Windows install and failing? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

RequestMPKeyInformation: Send() Failed

I have 12 DP's setup as PXE sites for image deployment. Everything is working great....except when I try to image off one of them it downloads the PE wim and starts up like its going to allow my to select my task seq....then fails and reboots. I can hit F8 and get into the SMSTS.log file and test network setting. I am able to ping my MP and DP no problem. What I am seeing in my log is it looks like the client isn't able to authenticate with the MP to get the key information. I am seeing:

401 - Unsuccessful with anonymous access retrying with context credentials

Using thread token for request

401 - Unsuccessful with context credentials. Retrying with supplied credentials.

Network access account credentials not supplied.

Now I know I have the network access account entered under software deployment, not 100% sure what context credentials are, and I verified in IIS anonymous access is enabled. And as I said things seem to be working fine at other locations.

I was able to do images here not that long ago. To my knowledge there have been no changes made to the network.

I did try to remove PXE and WDS and reinstall but I didn't remove the whole DP role. Its on a slower connection so I didn't want to replicate everything again if I didn't have to.

Version Stamping OS Builds

Hello, I'm not 100% sure if this is the place to ask this question but what the heck, here we go! So we have recently moved to deploying our OS's via SCCM 2012 R2. It's working great however I'm looking for away to version stamp the build so that simply having the user look on their desktop they will see a version or build number. I have seen this in other organizations and have tried "googleing" different ways of asking the question but have come up with nothing. If SCCM can't do it does anyone know of a way to be able to do this? Right now the OS is Win 7 Pro and some Win 8.1.

Thanks very much for your time!

How to capture Windows 2003 R2 SP2 x86?

$

Hello,

I'm trying to capture Windows 2003 R2 SP2 x86 server using Capture media with SCCM 2012 R2 (CU4).

The 2003 server is a virtual server (VMware) with all latest patches and VMware Tools installed. It's not in the domain and there is no AV software installed. I copied sysprep files from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14830 to C:\Sysprep directory, however when I run capture wizard from the capture CD and provide network path for the image it fails with the error:

Task Sequence: Image Capture Wizard has failed with the error code (0x0000007F).

I couldn't find any SCCM related logs on the 2003 server. There is C:\_SMSTaskSequence directory created though, but it only contains sms\bin\i386 directory with some dlls and TsManager.exe.

The boot image (OS version: 6.3.9600.16384) used for the capture CD is indeed x86 with vmxnet3 x86 drivers injected. I tried to recreate it but it doesn't seem to help. I also followed http://www.techygeekshome.co.uk/2012/11/windows-xp-sysprep-ready-for-sccm.html with regards to hardware changes, but it didn't help.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Is it possible to Capture an Acronis Image (.TIB) to SCCM 2012 R2

$

I am installing Windows 7 64 bit in our environment and now I have three images that way I like them with all of the necessary updates and programs.

I have been reading about capturing the images but they are for .ISO images. Would I be able to get the TIB images I created with Acronis on to SCCM 2012 R2 for distribution to new PC's?

Thank you in advance

OSD deployment failure - smstslog attached

I'm pretty new to SCCM and having issues with a OSD deployment. Current image works fine but have been asked to import some drivers so we can deploy to another model. Model is HP Z200. I have uploaded the drivers into sccm (previously tested them on the system manually to make sure they work), created a new driver package, setup a wmi query that looks for the model name in the task sequence and then deploys drivers. However the OSD deployment is failing, see log below can anyone help please?

OSD deployment failure - smstslog attached recently uploaded new model drivers

Hi guys

I'm pretty new to SCCM and having issues with a OSD deployment. Current image works fine but have been asked to import some drivers so we can deploy to another model. Model is HP Z200. I have uploaded the drivers into sccm (previously tested them on the system manually to make sure they work), created a new driver package, setup a wmi query that looks for the model name in the task sequence and then deploys drivers. However the OSD deployment is failing, see log:

can anyone help please?

Error: 87D02004 at SCCM OSD Media deployment, need help

Hi,

This is very odd error and while doing an SCCM 2012 OSD with media. As soon as the SCCM Client is installed, we have been getting error based the above code.

I mean if we put an package to be installed after the client installation we are getting the below error

Failed to run the action: Application Name
The software distribution policy was not found. (Error: 87D02004; Source: CCM)

Install Software failed, hr=0x87d02004.

We are using SCCM 2012 Client CU3 -

5.00.7958.1401

It is only happening with media, PXE boot was working without any errors.

Thanks,

Rakesh

SCCM 2012 R2 CU4

About 30% of task sequences are 'getting stuck' with the above error, identical hardware, identical task sequence, but sometimes works but often does not. When I say getting stuck, i mean that the TS does not error out, it just appears to be stuck on a particular step (installing adobe reader for instance), which step varies, but in every case, when looking at the smsts.log you see that it has " Timed out waiting for ccmexec service to be fully operational"

Here is the error in the smsts.log

Policy verification done
Config policies compiled successfully
_SMSTSReturnToGINA variable set to true
Waiting for CcmExec service to be fully operational
Succeeded loading resource DLL 'C:\WINDOWS\CCM\1033\TSRES.DLL'
Timed out waiting for ccmexec service to be fully operational

Failed to wait for Ccmexec service to be fully operational (0x80004005)
hr = TS::Utility::WaitForCcmExec(g_hShutdownEvent), HRESULT=80004005 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\client\tasksequence\tsmanager\tsmanager.cpp,1524)

I am at a loss as to this cause of this one, the only change to the task sequence has been the inclusion of CU4, but i can clearly see that it is successfully installing on many machines, and the ccmsetup and client.msi logs show success.

Here is an example of a full log: http://1drv.ms/1BXYu5J

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks.

Registry Key Addition During OSD

Hello,

I am trying to add a script to add a registry key during the OSD via SCCM.

As a test, I tried out this single script which works when used individually but when used in task sequence, it doesn't work. Where do I need to add this step.

reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SCCM" /v DeployedImage /t REG_SZ /d "Done"

I am using it as "Run as command line" step after "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" step.

...........................................................................................................................................................................................

In total, I need to add a registry key with some details which can be pulled later via Reports. I am triying using the script in the link

(https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/24cd277c-d8cb-4dad-a10e-a087a2e5a791/tattoo-in-osd?forum=configmanagerosd#7d11e483-83a4-4d97-9721-f6a359f6717f)

here individually in a task sequence but it fails with the below error message in SMSTS.log and TSAGENT.log

Error executing Task Sequence Manager service. Code 0x80004005

I have tried using the script directly as a "Run as command line step" as well as following the link here (http://powershelldistrict.com/osd-tattoo-powershell/) and creating a package without a program and then using it.

Please assist!

Single Primary Site SCCM 2012 R2 CU4.

Migrating from XP to Windows 7.

Following http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2013/09/12/how-to-migrate-user-data-from-win-xp-to-win-8-1-with-system-center-2012-r2-configmgr.aspx

We created a TS to migrate the user profiles (using hardlinks). Upon completion the workstation finishes the migration but no profiles and or settings.

Laptops shipped from other sites continue to see the SCCM server in other sites

We have multiple sites where laptops are sent from. The problem is the laptop at one time was entered into the device collection of that site and it was imaged from the images on the SCCM server of that site. The issue now is the SCCM server(s) in that site are no longer in existence but when we boot using F12 and selecting the Onboard NIC, the laptops continue to look for the servers where they were initially in that servers device collection.

I do not want the laptops to find the old SCCM, I want to direct them to the images and device collections on the server in my site yet they are not doing that. How can this issue be corrected? Even after they have been re imaged if we use the PXE boot it looks for images on previous servers. If the server is on, they will find the images on that server not on the one that is local, if the server has been decommissioned, the Laptops cannot use the PXE option.

Thank you

SCCM 2012 R2 CU4. 1 primary, 2 secondary

This is an intermittent issue, as you would expect. I have experienced it on R2 vanilla, so i disabled Client Push and it went away. I installed CU4 over ther weeken so gave client push another go and it failed once more.

It is quite clear in the logs (in addition but separate to to all the file hash errors!....):

This is not a new issue it seems as other people have experienced same, with the same workaround of disabling Client Push.

Anyone else had this?

Do Microsoft need to fix this?
