PXE Boot issues with Latitude E5450.

Our SCCM 2012 is SP1 and it does not  support Windows 8.1.

I had tried to capture the OS through network but there were issues connecting and smsts.log indicated share not reachable. Hence, I captured the OS in the D:\ of the machine.

Now after creating TS and deploying the OSD machine boots to PXE and starts to download boot image files and instantly restarts to Windows. I have performed below steps..

1. Got the network drivers and updated the boot image with the same

2. Checked the BIOS settings and time is updated correctly

3. Used an old boot image that was used to capture another model laptop with Windows 8.1 and still same issue.

Getting the below errors in smsts.log

uExitCode == 0, HRESULT=80004005 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\server\pxe\tspxe\tspxe.cpp,185)TSPxe3/26/2015 6:29:17 PM792 (0x0318)

Offline Servicing - Failed to Mount Image

I'm able to deploy an OS perfectly with OSD task sequences with the image I'm using.  However when I attempt to inject the updates using the "Schedule Updates" method, I get the following error.  Failed to mount the image on the system.

I opened SCCM console from the primary site itself just in case, I also retried with elevating permissions on the console.

Please let me know my understanding is correct during capturing image vai sysyprep and capture machine is need to be workgroup, and administrator account is enabled with no password? Second query is how to disable local administrator account via GPO and how to enable local administrator password (I mean what are options to able local administrator account in enterprise and how to enable same)

looking for boot image issue - not seeing the new image.

Before I start.. YES, I did set "deploy this boot image from the pxe distribution point..." .

What I am seeing is... If I change from an old boot image to a new one my clients keep looking for my previous boot image.

I went to my old boot image and remove the "deploy this boot image...."

I went to my new boot image and ticked the "deploy this boot image..."

In "Data Access" I set copy the contents of this package..."

I did not create a custom package name..

In "Distribution settings" I set "Distribute the contents for this package to preferred..."

I then restarted WDS service..

I checked the RemoteInstall folder : D:\RemoteInstall\SMSImages\HEF00235\ and the WIM file is present: boot.HEF00235.wim

If I check the smspxe.log file I see:

00:15:5D:02:69:4A, 4F62BAB0-EFDA-4B44-BAB9-1D499A800697: could not find boot image HEF001C8	SMSPXE	11-05-2015 09:07:50	8228 (0x2024)00:15:5D:02:69:4A, 4F62BAB0-EFDA-4B44-BAB9-1D499A800697: Not serviced.	SMSPXE	11-05-2015 09:07:50	8228 (0x2024)

Blue screen after apply OS and restarting

Good day guys

We have had a standard image for an HP laptop that has been working no problems. However now during the OSD stage - applying drivers and after the machine reboots - it gives a BSOD

BSOD: STOP 0x0000007B 0xFFFFF880009A97E8 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034 0x0000000000
0x0000000000

Has anyone seen this? I haven't changed anything in our task sequence so any idea on this?

I tried googling the answer and it says it cant detect the hard drive. Is there anyway I can inject the hard drive driver onto it after it reboots - if that is the answer?

Thanks in advance

USMT Files wont restore when imaging

Hi all, hopefully someone out there can help me,

when re-imaging a machine we would normally backup the machine profile using "Capture User Files and Settings" in a task sequence, either Link or copy to server, both use to work.

Currently the backup process is successful but the data does not restore from the server or the linked data location

when copying the server stays in a state of Migration Type = In-Place

and when linking the linked data is there initially but is gone by the time the windows login screen comes up,

in both cases i have been unable to find a log file that shows the task sequence failure or problem,

also both task sequences have been recreated with no success,

any help greatly appreciated

Steve

SCCM- OSD error 0x800700A1

Hello,

I work help desk for a company, and we utilize SCCM OSD deployments to image machines. I have a machine that was successfully imaged in the past, but now I cannot get it to re-image.

To image, I boot from a disk, then plug in a password at the task sequence welcome, it retrieves avaliable policy, I then select the appropriate task sequence (in this case Windows 7x64 Role Based)... All that is good.

It then goes to Format and Partition the HDD

I then receive:

Task Sequence: Windows 7 x64 Role Based has failed with the error code (0x800700A1). For more information, contact your system admin or helpdesk. Computer will automatically restart in 15 min.

I can image other machines fine. Here is some of the log if that helps... Thank You

Strange one this... on non-SSD laptops this application as part of a Windows 7 OSD works just fine, on SSD-equipped machines it fails, every time. All clients are Dell E6330 laptops.

This application runs prior to the failing application..

Tried wrapping it up in a batch file, same result.

The deployment type is working, and ironically the application is installed on the SSD-equipped clients.

Any ideas most welcome!

Waiting for Job Status Notification...

Hello SCCM community,

I'm trying this route to see if I am able to find a solution to a problem I am having. Our Windows 7 x64 "golden" image was starting to take quite some time to get deployed on workstations because of the quantity of Software Updates getting pushed out at the end of the process.

We decided to kick in our bi-yearly process of rebuilding the Build and Capture task sequence to include all the latest software updates up to the month of March. The B&C process itself worked flawlessly.

Since I wanted to test the whole thing before rolling it out into production, I copied my production "Deploy Windows 7" task sequence on a Test TS that I deployed on a Test Collection. I edited my TS and changed the "Apply Operating System" step to have the update WIM file I just created.

Here's the problem we encounter when attempting to deploy this TS: not every time, but, quite frequently, the Task Sequence will seem to go idle on the first Package with a Program that gets invoked by the Task Sequence. In my case, since I'm testing using a Virtual Machine, this first Package is usually the VMWare Tools. The same TS deployed on a physical machine, such as an HP laptop will do the same, except on the Fingerprint Reader which is the first package to get called.

I have seen a few posts online that seem to resemble my issue, such as:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2a1d26d8-1edb-41c1-9d3c-94fa64761cf4/sccm-2012-sp1-osd-task-sequence-hangs-on-package-install?forum=configmanagerosd

http://sccm-etc.blogspot.ca/2013/12/task-sequence-stops-randomly.html

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/54a01410-ebe5-4bba-8f62-01415a6dac7a/tasksequence-stops-randomly?forum=configmanagerosd#70507abc-714c-4e3a-8558-f8000f226113They all seem to exhibit similar symptoms to mine, but none of the solutions proposed work for me.

- Single Primary Site with DP Role installed, 2012 R2 CU4
- Task Sequence Client Installation also installs the CU4 client
- Had the problem before I upgraded to CU4 (Previously was on CU3)
- I tried the VBS proposed in the 3 link I posted
- The problem is not because the application is waiting for use input because all these applications work with our "older" golden image
- I tried adding a 5 minutes sleep + Reboot right after the Setup Windows and Configuration Manager, also tried a Reboot + Sleep, both cases, no change
- I tried replacing the "driver specific model" step in WinPE by an AutoApply Drivers, same thing.
- I tried recapturing my golden image, waiting 24 hours, adding it to SCCM, waiting another 24 hours, distributing it to my DP, still, no change

All I see in my SMSTS.log is an infinite loop of "Waiting for job status notification...".

I currently have a case opened with Microsoft, but, so far, nothing concrete. I'm hoping someone has seen this and has something good for me!

401 - Unsuccessful with anonymous access. Retrying with context credentials.

I've been experiencing some errors when completing OSD.

the task sequence gets to the "Applying Operating System" part of the task and Failed at about 50% with error code 80070002 or 80004005.

Looking at the SMSTS log it looks like the error is:

401 - Unsuccessful with anonymous access. Retrying with context credentials. ApplyOperatingSystem 11/05/2015 16:13:03 1136 (0x0470)
401 - Unsuccessful with context credentials. Retrying with supplied credentials. ApplyOperatingSystem 11/05/2015 16:13:03 1136 (0x0470)

Deploy task sequence: option "deploy from distribution point" not available, which package (Powershell?)

$

Hi,

We want to deploy a task sequence and run every package from the distribution point. However, this optio is not available. Probably due to this https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9686cfe8-7bf8-4fe5-90bb-73f43156b018/access-content-directly-from-a-distribution-point-when-needed-by-the-running-task-sequence-wim-file
= package not enabled for sharing on data access tab
My question:

how to find out which package it is or how to force this for all packages and trigger an update (Powershell?)

Please advise.

Anyone have a Dell E7450 and gotten it to PXE/WinPE boot proeprly?

We had some E7440s that worked fine but those are now shopping as E7450s and we're having a problem.

I boot the laptop, Press F12, and choose Network boot.

It loads up and gets an Ip address.  It then does the Loading Files and shows our boot.xxxxx.wim file as loading.

We get past that screen to a moment of a Windows screen with the rotating dots.  After that we get the gray SCCM background.

We get a small box that says: Initializing Windows PE.  Preparing Network connections...  but then just the gray background.

After it sits there for 30 seconds or so the laptop just reboots.

Not even sure where to look to figure out what the problem might be.

Thanks!

Install Application Task sequence step fails to download content during OSD

I have an Application defined for Office 2010 Pro Plus.  I have tested it through a running client OS on my desk and the content downloads and installs fine.  I have configured my boundary groups to contain boundaries for my environment.  I have a network access account configured within the Software Distribution component.  I want to install this application during OSD of a reference build, workgroup joined system.  I have SMSMP=server.domain.com defined in my task sequence "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" step.

"Installation of Application Office 2010 Pro Plus failed - 0x8000405"

I look at the CAS.log and I see that the system is failing to download the content, however it DOES show successful location of content on the local DP.  I notice that the CAS.log shows the "context" of the download is SYSTEM - shouldn't this be using the network access account?  Is there a problem here in that the Application Install mechanism isn't trying to use the Client Network access account?

Installation of "Legacy" packages works fine, I even created a "Legacy" Office 2010 package and this downloads and installs fine.  Has anyone else managed to build a workgroup joined reference PC using ConfigMgr 2012 with additional "Applications"?

I have tried, to no avail, using both Subnet and IP Range boundaries.

windows pe on a tablet - how to reduce resolution?

Hi there

i have to install - for special testing purposes - windows pe on an tablet with an ATOM Z3795. This means this devices should use the Intel HD Graphics 4000/2500 driver. I´ve injected the Intel driver but it seems it isn´t used.

After booting my pe-stick the Tablet is using the Microsoft Basic Display driver and haves 1920x1200 as one and only resolution

Now i would like to reduce the resolution, but with setres.exe i get "are not supported by your video device"

I understand that a very/too high resolution/refresh rate may harm my screen - but why can´t i run a lower than the maximal resolution???

When I install Windows 8.1 on this device the Intel driver is installed (problably because the driver-setup is a 32bit-app and pe doesnt support 32-bit apps) so i can reduce the resolution to 1024x768 - but why cant i do it with PE???

thx

Cannot deploy .NET 3.5 with Windows 8.1

I know there are numerous articles on the internet on how to do this but for the life of me I cannot get it to work.

I've tried Powershell commands/scripts and DISM commands, but both error out saying the "source" files cannot be found.

However I am always specifying the source and its doesn't matter if I use a Powershell variable to hold on the path or the explicit hard-coded path.

I've tried pointing to the \source\sxs as well as using the wim:<path> method.

DISM throws the typical 0x800F0906 error saying the source files could not be downloaded.

I've even tried just locally downloading the entire Windows 8.1 disk contents to a client device and run the commands from there...still no luck; same errors.

Some of the random commands and scripts I've tried:

$imagePath = "\\<sccm_server>\Images\Windows81.ISO"
Mount-DiskImage -ImagePath $imagePath
$imageDrive = Get-DiskImage -DevicePath \\.\CDROM1 | Get-Volume
$imageDrive = $imageDrive.DriveLetter
DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /source:$imageDrive+":\sources\sxs" /All /LimitAccess
Dismount-DiskImage -ImagePath $imagePath

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:C:\Users\<myself>\Desktop\Windows8.1Ent\sources\sxs\

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:wim:C:\Users\<myself>\Desktop\Windows8.1Ent\sources\install.wim:1

I also tried the following script from this blog http://www.verboon.info/2013/12/configmgr-osd-enable-net-framework-3-5-on-windows-8-1/ :

[CmdletBinding(SupportsShouldProcess=$true)]

Once again, help with a Surface pro 3 (PXE)

Hey guys, had posted a thread a few weeks ago, but did not have access to some needed info. SInce that time, some changes have been made and I have more access now. But I still can not get this Surface Pro 3 to PXE boot.

We are using IPHelper and do not have Option 60,66, or 67 set in DCHP options. We are using a 64 bit boot image.

We can PXE boot every other device we try. But the Surfaces are our first UEFI PXE boot devices. Here is the content I am getting in the smspxe.log.  I see "Not serviced" and I see "no advertisement found", but I don't know why.

I started trying to PXE boot it as an unknown, since we have that enabled. When that didn't work, I imported it into SCCM by entering the GUID, the Device name, and the MAC (I used the MAC from the dongle).  That didn't work, and the smspxe.log file is below. Any help?

OSD failing because client not receiving HW inventory.

Hi All,

I am facing a problem with deployment of OSD task sequence. Client is not receiving HW inventory, due to which the OSD task sequence does not proceed further and in some cases it takes very long time to proceed.

We use runbooks for deployment and all was working before but now we are facing this issue with HW inventory on many clients.

I have checked the InventoryAgent and InventoryProvider logs but found no clue in it.

I am new to SCCM enviorment. Hence can anyone please me in investigating this issue.

Regards

SCCM 2012 R2 - BCD file from the PXE Server does not contain a valid OS

Hi all,

got a bit of an odd issue with OSD at the moment and was wondering if anyone could lend a hand. We've recently upgraded from SCCM 2007 R2 to SCCM 2012 R2. It's gone pretty well and now I've started to set up builds for the various desktops/laptops that we give our to staff members. The problem I'm having is that certain models throw up this error message immediately after you hit F12 to begin the deployment:

The strange thing is that when you PXE boot these problem machines via our old 2007 server, they work fine.  Has there been some change between the BCD files that SCCM provided in 2007 compared with those it provides in 2012?

The fact that about half the desktop/laptops we have  build ok via SCCM 2012 R2 suggests that the BCD file is ok but that, for whatever reason, some model's architecture is no longer supported by the default BCD file. Can anyone suggest any good places to start troubleshooting this?

Thanks for the help

I have too more locations 192.168.2.XXX and  192.168.3.XXX. On those locations doesn't find PXE. what is causing this? we are over vpn between head office and 2 regional offices.
