Fresh installation of SCCM 2012 SP1 on Windows 2012.

First installed all the pre-req's, like ADK etc...

SCCM installed fine, reporting services up and running, I'm able to add new applications, but there are no Boot Images loaded.

If I try to add it by myself via the console the wizard fails with the error:

What is wrong and how can I fix this?

Pre-provisioning of bitlocker is a great new feature in ConfigMgr 2012 SP1, but since I have no plans to deploy Windows 8 in the near future I have some questions regarding the feature.

Does anyone know if it's officially supported by Microsoft to use pre-provisioning of bitlocker with deployment of Windows 7 Enterprise? Everything seems to work, but isn't encrypting only used space a feature of Windows 8? How will Windows 7 manage this after deployment?

HP has a tool called SSM that allows to install drivers. I am looking for a guide to deploy drivers using ssm and sccm 2012 task sequence.

So, the situation is that everything looks to be in place (when we deploy PXE to the DP, WDS gets installed etc) & even when we PXE boot, the client will pull down WDSNBP, but thereafter it fails.

Then F12 produces this:

I've followed the instructions & *believe* I've hit most of the "gotchas" when it comes to the PXE (IP Helpers in place, DHCP options in place, boot images deployed out to PXE etc).

The smspxe.log file also complains about not finding ADK registry key value or something.  Does ADK need to be installed on the DP in question for PXE?

Anything I'm missing or do these errors bring anything to light?

Hello guys I'm running into an issue with USMT all of our user names have spaces in them and I know you just add the quotes but is there a way to automatically add the quotes with in the task sequence?

I am getting this error (80070570) "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." during the "Apply Operating System Image" step in the task sequence.

The WIM image does begin to apply; so when it fails, if I browse to c:\ some of the file structure is there. It also seems to fail at the same file every time. (Only changes when I change to a different wim file)

I have tried different WIM images and from different sources and different flavors of windows (7/8) with the though that it might be the file but I get the same result every time.

I have tried difference machines with the thought that it might be the drive but still I get the same result... It would also be unlikely that it fail at the exact same point every time if this were the case.

I have also tried out various drivers in the boot file with the though that that may be the problem... same result.

I've hit a wall now... any ideas out there?

I understand that the boot images are on the PXE Service Point. Question is, when are boundaries check during OSD Task Sequence? How can they be evaluated without a client installed?

I have a Windows 7 Distribution Point setup at a remote office. The PXE is back at the main location. I understand I can't have PXE on Windows 7? I have all the OSD content distributed to the DP at the remote office. I want to make sure new images at that remote office only get the PXE boot image from the main location and the actual OSD content from the DP within their office. I have a boundary group setup that references that remote DP.

So, when or how will the boundaries be checked and used?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience using USMT to migrate the offline files cache in Windows 7?

The scanstate process is currently able to see and process files in the cache, but when it comes to the loadstate, I get messages in the log file saying:

V2VArbitrate: Source Migration unit <system>\Microsoft-Windows-OfflineFiles-Core (CCSIAgent) is not supported on the destination machine and it will not be restored.

There is not a lot of information on this out there on the internet, with tonnes of blog posts explaining how easy it is to capture, but not a single piece of info on the restore.

The strange this is, that this process works 100% when the USMT 4 toolkit is used.

Details:

-         Migration parameter has been set in the registry

-       CSCMig.DLL is present in the USMT package

-         Offline Files is enabled by GPO on both source and destination machine

I am working with a retail client that has offices and stores at remote locations.  Some have very poor network speeds and the links are getting saturated on a regular basis.  The client has many task sequences advertised to all systems and they make frequent changes to these task sequences.  They have asked me whether this could be impacting their network. 

I have two questions related to task sequence policy that I am hoping someone can answer-

1 When clients refresh their task sequence policy, is there a way to determine how large the actual policy is for a task sequence?

2 If I make a change to a task sequence that is deployed already, do clients download the entire policy for that task sequence again?

Using MDT2012 I've built a Windows 7 image to include an Office 2013 KMS install. When I deploy this image via SCCM and open an Office 2013 app such as Word, I get a warning that the product isn't activated. I've tried leaving the machine sitting idle for several days but it still does not automatically activate. If I run ospp.vbs /act on the machine it activates successfully. I've tried manually starting the Office Software Protection Platform service but it still does not force the auto activation. Is anyone having similar troubles? Is there additional preparation needed regarding Office 2013 before I capture the image?

Im in need of some assistance. I am running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 on Server 2012 in a school district environment. We have roughly 14,000 machines (about 40 campuses). We implemented OSD over the summer and everything was working beautifully; we tested well. When our techs came back today and they starting imaging, we had a significant drop in network performance; slow times to load WinPe boot image, some images erroring out during the task sequence, and some errored out before you could select a task sequence. Does anyone have any thoughts I could try to improve performance? I think it was just the load the server was taking but our old WDS server didn't seem to have these issues. I realize this is a very broad question and near impossible to answer, as you don't really know what our network is set up like, I just thought I'd put it out here for some feedback of things I can check. I thought about the TFTPBlockSize, and increasing the Transmit and Receive buffers on the NIC, but am unsure if that would actually do anything. Any feedback is appreciated.

I am having a problem, getting past the OS installation of a Build and Capture TS.  I used the instructions on Windows-Noob and rechecked my setup several times.  I believe it is a permissions issue, but the Network Access Account is functioning as it should.

In another post, some one mentioned about enabling Anonymous Authentication in IIS.  I only have 2 sites listed in IIS, Default Web Site and WSUS and both are set to Anonyoums Authentication.

I even deleted the OS folders for the operating systems, and recreated them.  Deleted and recreated the OS Installers and Task Sequences but it still gives me the error when applying the OS.

I would appreciate any additional help with this.

Now my first post. Didn't find anything within at least 20 hours of troubleshooting and googling without a single result.

 

My Lab Setup:

Server 2012 Hyper-V Host

- Server 2012 with SCCM 2012 Standalone Primary Site Server (SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2)

- Server 2012 with SQL Server 2012 SP1

- Server 2012 as Domain Controller, DHCP Server, DNS Server etc.

 

Installed roles on the SCCM:

- Application Catalog web service point

- Application Catalog website point

- Component server

- Distribution point

- Endpoint Protection point

- Management point

- Site server

- Site system

- Sofware update point

- State migration point

 

I created a build and capture TS

 

The virtual client boots into PXE and I get to the list of the task sequences.

After selecting one of it, it says checking dependencies, etc. and after about 20 seconds I get the error

Failed to run task sequence (0x80004005)

The server is configured to use http.

 

 

The Task sequences were created with the new PXE images and with SP1. CU2 was installed after..

Hi all,

I am new to SCCM 2012 and I was wondering what the pros and cons are for deploying a task sequence to Unknown Computers. Is there anything that I definitely have to keep in mind when deploying to Unknown Computers?

I would like to use this feature to deploy a task sequence to new computers at my client to avoid having to enter all data manually. I also have a problem with one computer that refuses to start the task sequence because it is 'not registered in SCCM'. The computer, however, has been added manually to SCCM and the collection that has the task sequence deployed to it. It's an HP ProBook 4330s, other HP's (e.g. Probook 6560b) do run the task sequence.

I have a task sequence that is working on all pcs/laptops except for a select few.  It stops on the partition/fomatting page and errors out.  I can't seem to find the ts.log to see what is causing the error.

I'm trying to deploy Win 7 32bit image - most of the times its going fine without any problems, but this time I get a specific error and can't find anyway to solve it. (I have checked another computers and OSD its just fine)

Hi all

i upgrade my SCCM 2012 RTM to SCCM 2012 SP1 yesterday. Today i started a recapture of my Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 Base Image.

For that i have 2 VMs located in different SCCM Collections. And a Build and Capture Task Sequence is deployed to the collections.

Before SP1 the behavior was:

- Reset Required PXE Deployment in SCCM for the VMs
- Start VM
- VM boots with PXE
- VM installs and capture the Installation

And that i could do all the time so often as i want.

Now with SP1 it is the same procedure but just for one time. After one success Build and Capture Task, the vm is unable to do the task sequence again. The VM is booting into the PXE and then i can see in the smsts log:

There are no task sequences available to this computer

But there are. The Task Sequence is set to "Always rerun".

The only "fix" is to completely recreate the computer item in sccm.

What is here wrong? Is this a known bug?

Hi Guys I am under the gun and really need your help.

I have a machine that I have to capture that has 2 physical disks. I have captured the first disk with the OS and applications without issue?, my question is, is there a way to capture the second physical disk, using a Capture Task sequence?, I do not need the second disk to be sysprepped just captured.

Disk 0 - Windows 7 and Applications - Captured with a capture TS.

In one of our Task Sequences it's neccesary to install the Remote Assistance feature in the Task Sequence but I can't get it to be installed. Running the command line within Windows works fine. 

I've tried a Run Command Line step: servermanagercmd -install Remote-Assistance
I've tried a MDT Install Roles and Features step and then select the Remote Assistance feature

Both steps give an error code 1, not sure what that means.
