My goal is to change BIOS settings from BIOS Legacy to UEFI (or UEFI CSM) during OSD on a HP laptop. So to do that I have created some steps in Windows PE Phase.
- Reboot in WinPE, Clean disk (diskpart), then Partition Disk (MBR) if not already UEFI-Mode

So far ok.

I use HP BIOSConfigurationUtility to change some BIOS settings to fit my standard and change to UEFI-Mode. It works great. But I can't reboot in Windows PE automatically because Partition is MBR and not GPT. So I decided to change that before restart in Windows PE.

- Clean disk (diskpart) a second time, Partition Disk (GPT) and Restart in Windows PE step.

Unfortunately it doesn't work because Windows PE isn't in EFI-Mode now. So I tried to correct that with bcdboot before "Restart in Windows PE" step:

- "bcdboot X:\Windows /S: C: /F EFI" and "bootsect /nt60 C: /force" and then "Restart in Windows PE" step.

"Restart in Windows PE" step still fails but after the system reboots, it starts Windows PE in EFI-Mode and I can select my OSD and everything is ok.

Is it possible to automate the whole process? My Scenario works well but it fails the first time if BIOS not already in UEFI.

I am  running into very strange issue where some of the PC's all of sudden failing at the very last steps of OSD Task sequence re-image. 30% of the PC's are failing and 70% of the pc's build successfully. The Pc's which are failing are actually failing at the very last steps of the Task sequence where we run 'Gather local computer info: Bit Locker' .....  At this very last Step of the Task sequence 30% of the pc's are freezing with no apparent error on screen, it simply freeze there for hours and hours......Any help will be deeply appreciated.

I have created a Task Sequence which ran successfully when I have deployed it to a client which already exists on SCCM.

Then, I have deployed it to Unknown Computers collection, and created a bootable media , booted from it (on non-client machine) , I have entered the password and then got the  0x80070057 error ("an error occurred while retrieving policy for this computer ... ").

I read the smsts log, and the relevant errors are:

OK, this could well be the very first post on the internet about a potential issue I am looking into.  I have a customer that is running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1, want's to look at deploying Windows 10 but is not yet ready/prepared to upgrade the ADK version from 8.1 to 10 on their primary site server (so that they can still ensure existing builds work OK, driver management of the boot image etc.), instead we are going with importing a WinPE image from the Windows 10 ADK (using DISM to first add certain components) and importing that into SCCM worked fine.

However, we started to uncover issues with BitLocker pre-provisioning in that on the first reboot after applying the OS image, the machine would stop and tell us that there are No available recovery options.

I noticed in WinPE that the Encryption type during pre-provisioning was this new "XTS AES 128", instead of the usual "AES 128".  If I turned off Bitlocker encryption and decrypted the device, it continued the boot and the remainder of the task sequence. 

I undertook some more testing and found that if I imported a Win10 boot image from my own SCCM environment which HAS had the ADK upgraded to Win10 (v10.0.10240.16384), but NOT to the latest ADK now available for download (10.1.10586).  This imported boot image still used the "AES 128" cipher strength and the Bitlocker pre-provisioning and reboot worked without issue.

I have still to determine if it is the new WinPE version in the latest Win10 ADK that is the problem (because of the XTS AES) OR if this is a problem related to using an imported Win10 boot image in a non-ADK upgraded SCCM environment.

Just a heads up to watch for this if you upgrade any customer SCCM environments with the latest ADK!

kindly help me how to use UDI designer requirement is during OSD deployment (windows7) it should ask for language pack and after selceting language pack same can be loaded so how to configure UDI Designer and if any variable needs to specify in target collection (Unknown) for unattended installation like domain administrator and password etc

I'm in the middle OSD Deployment in my LAB. Bare Metal client gets IP address and it it downloads. But machine re-boot from the point where TS initialize installation and it never moves beyond that.Is there a log available to check? I don't see SMSPXE.log that helpful.

I updated my site with CU2 for SCCM2012R2SP1. However windows 10 offline servicing still shows me Windows 8 updates.

I did not install KB3089193 because if it's not urgent I like to wait for CUs. And the CU claims, it contains the hotfix: KB3089193. Odd enough in my lab I could install this hotfix *after* CU2 - shouldn't it just tell, it's already been installed?

Anyone else with this behaviour?

Btw. all the dlls on the CU2 description site have a .1301 version but after the upgrade I have .1302 - I guess this is because of the re-release of the CU?

Hi Can someone tell me how I can fix this problem?  I am trying to update my boot images with drivers that I just imported.  When I right-click on my boot image, select drivers and add, it just freezes on "Loading"  any suggestions?

We have a bad habit of not removing computers from AD before re-imaging. So, when we a computer is re-imaged and renamed at the same time, we end up with two computer AD objects.

Is there any way of adding a step in the Task Sequence to remove the old computer object from AD? OR, maybe remove AD computer objects that are flagged as obsolete in SCCM?

I have created a testing environment in which I have 1 site server with required site system roles. While deploying OS , I m getting an error "An Operating System wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain any operating System. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart. " After pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del the same error comes again.

Please help.

Everything works well, consitantly but in each case the C:\_SMSTaskSequencefolder is left behind.
Its empty and doesn't take up any space but it would be nice to have it removed.

Is yours getting removed; any ideas for me?

PS this does work when I run it manually cmd /c rmdir /s /q %SystemDrive%\_vNextUpgrade

may be it just needs a delay?

We have recently started having a problem with OSD where it will start taking a long amount of time (approx. 2 - 8 minutes) on the stage "Contacting Server to find compatible device drivers" with an Auto Apply drivers step.

We have monitored the MP_DriverManager.log file , and can see that a week ago the requests were getting responded to in approx. 5 seconds, however they are now taking several minutes, and sometimes the request fails to be sent in time, resulting in the task sequence failing.

The SCCM database has been reindexed, both via the built in maintenance job, and also manually to ensure it is running.

I have done a SQL trace on the database and it is the MP_MatchDrivers stored procedure which is taking the long time to run

Has anyone got any idea what could be done or what he problem is, I really do not want to move to using Apply Driver Package steps , I want to keep using the Auto Apply drivers step.

SCCM version is SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1 , we have just upgraded, however the problem was occurring before the upgrade as well.

Im creating a USB stick in SCCM to image surface Pro 3/4 and Lenovo Laptops with windows 10. the task sequence pop up briefly then says "Unable to read task sequence configuration disk" every time it runs it fails with the same error, despite me following all the "fixes" i could locate online. Getting this error after installing Windows 10 ADK

Is this related to missing hard drive driver in PE?

Running MDT 2013 Update 1, SCCM 2012 R2 SP1, Trying to get MDT Monitoring working and it is but not to the extent I need.

I am running this after every reboot to try have Real Time status (Seems to work)

I am using this at the end of my Task Sequence to capture Logs

So the "Real Time" monitoring seems to work except for an script error that pops up (Task Sequence keeps running) but at the end of completion in Deployment Workbench it shows Status Running Percent Complete 100 but never goes to a completed status. Thoughts?  Is there a better method to get this accomplished?  Also I would like to have Dart Load on every reboot is this possible?

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!
