Windows 10 - Skip language selection

Hi,

I have succesfully created a deployment environment, using SCCM 2012 R2 and MDT 2012. I am deploying a multilingual installation of Windows 8.1 using task sequence variables fine, without any issues. As soon as I start the task sequence, Windows 8.1 is being installed unattendedly, in the language I want, based on the device collection in SCCM. To achieve this, I am using a US english version of the Windows 8.1 ISO and several language packs.

Now, I would like to do the same thing on Windows 10. I updated my environment to the latest versions of SCCM and MDT. Deployment of Windows 10 without language packs is running fine, but when I install a language pack the same way I do for Windows 8.1, the language pack is installed, but after the first reboot I still get a screen to choose my display language.

Why do I still have to choose my display language and what makes deployment of Windows 10 different from Windows 8.1?

Virtual Directory reinstall on Distribution point

I have this error:  Distribution Manager failed to find or create the defined share or folder () on distribution point.  If I restart the service SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER on the primary site server, will it attempt fix the problem on the member distribution point after fixing the root cause on the server?  Or do need to reinstall the distribution point via Servers and Site System Roles?

TPM/Bitlocker Fails during OSD on W10 Build 1511

Has anyone successfully got bitlocker (with TPM) working during OSD with the new Windows 10 1511 ?

http://tinyurl.com/o8qfbrm

The steps in the above image are Identical to my older windows 10 build (pre 1511) and they work fine on old build.

The step that fails specifically is the Start MBAM Encryption

When i run the powershell manually it says that the TPM is not in the required state.

i did find something here:

OSD Source Location

during an OSD deployment, when you are in the OS part of the deployment and in fact "after" the CM2012 client has been installed which log file tells you the Source Server for your deployment? I want to confirm my OSD is pulling source from the local DP and not across the wire from another building.

Failed to find a valid network adapter but ipconfig in command prompt shows an IP address

As the title indicates, when we boot some models of computers (not all) into WinPE to start a task sequence, we immediately get an error that states "Failed to find a valid network adapter."  When we press F8 to get a command prompt and run ipconfig, we confirm that we are getting an ip address and we can ping the management point and the local dp.  If we close out of the error and run TsBootShell.exe the wizard successfully pulls the available task sequences.

Thanks in advance.  Let me know if you need further information!

PXE boot fails when DP is on HTTPS mode

Hi All,

PXE boot not working, let me brief about the infra setup

1. SCCM primary server (CM-P01) configured with PKI certificates - https mode

2. SCCM DP on premise (CM-DP01) configured with certificate and https mode only.

DP works fine for PXE boot when on HTTP mode, but fails in to load pxe boot when on https only mode.

Following is the error message in SMSPXE log file from server. Kindly assist.

Let's get a few basic things out of the way

$

Environment: Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit deployed by SCCM

My problem: when I deploy a custom golden image which includes Win10 Ent 64-bit with some language packs, I get the following print screen:

If I deploy the exactly same custom image in my other environment through MDT 2013 SP1, I don't have that screen. The deployment finish as expected.

If I deploy the basic Windows 10 Ent without any language pack through SCCM, I don't have that screen neither.

So it looks like it's related to the fact that my custom image contains language packs. So do you know how to pass over that step please?

Any help will be appreciated,

MDT Monitoring with SCCM

Running MDT 2013 Update 1, SCCM 2012 R2 SP1, Trying to get MDT Monitoring working and it is but not to the extent I need.

I am running this after every reboot to try have Real Time status (Seems to work)

http://poorlycoded.blogspot.com/2012/11/using-mdt-monitoring-with-config.html

I am using this at the end of my Task Sequence to capture Logs

http://schadda.blogspot.com/2012/01/sccm-2012-how-to-catch-errors-in-task.html

So the "Real Time" monitoring seems to work except for an script error that pops up (Task Sequence keeps running) but at the end of completion in Deployment Workbench it shows Status Running Percent Complete 100 but never goes to a completed status. Thoughts?  Is there a better method to get this accomplished?  Also I would like to have Dart Load on every reboot is this possible?

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

SCCM 2012 R2 task sequence: Move a computer object to different OU

$

Hi,

We migrate from Windows XP to 7.
During task sequence, we need to be sure the object is moved from one OU to another (XP to Vista OU/policies).
What is the best way to do this?

Could be wrong, but it seems that a default task sequence does not move the object although there is a step which explicitely says to put the computer object in a certain OU ("apply network settings").

Please advise.
J.

I"m on SCCM 2012 and my OSD keeps failing on Dell Vostro 3360 & HP dc5800.
My OSD is failing with 0x80070002 when Setup Windows and ConfigMgr is busy. After this i have a restart computer task.

I've tried various remedies:
download latest driver and add the network drivers to boot images
check a the driver packages
empy network access account restart server and add new account with domain admin rights
Verify that the network access account works and is valid

enabling Anonymous Auth on Default Web Site /SMS_DP_SMSPKG$

restart iis

anonymous client login in sccm console

Any suggestions how to move forward?

PXE will not complete TFTP correctly.

I am working with System Center trying to get my operating system deployment set up. I am rather frustrated at this point, I have my IP Helpers set up and pointing to my PXE server, my DHCP server has options 66 and 67 set correctly. 67 is iset to \smsboot\x86\pxeboot.com option 66 is my full FQDN for the pxe server. I am running a primary site with a CAS running above that. Before you say anything, I know it isn't ideal, it is the structure we have decided to go with for a number of reasons, and as far as I can tell this is not the problem. No I do not have 50,000 computers, but I have enough sites that I need it to be this way for other reasons. When attempting a pxe boot the code in the smspxelog is

While running wireshark I notice it get to doing a tftp download of \boot\sources\boot.wim and give a access violation failure. I then get on the screen of the computer that is running the pxe boot, that there is a 0x000001 error and I have a device that failed and I need to restart. I'm at a loss as to what to do here, I know the task sequence works because if I put it on standalone media it installs. I don't know what is going on at this point...

Install Software Updates not applying to known (wipe & reload) computers during OSD

Hi Experts,

I am having an issue with the "Install Software Updates" step not installing deployed updates during an OSD sequence to known computers i.e. when performing a wipe and reload. The software updates apply without issue if the device does not exist as an existing SCCM device i.e. new devices or if you delete the device from SCCM.

SCCM Version: 2012 R2 SP1 CU1

Client Version: Windows 10 Enterprise

A software update group which contains all current Windows 10 updates is deployed to a "Windows 10 OSD" collection, this collection contains all Windows 10 devices based on a query and is linked to the existing "All unknown computers" collection. In testing scenarios an existing device which is a member of the "Windows 10 OSD" fails at the "Install Software Updates" step with the below errors.

My OSD task sequence has 3 “Install Software Updates” passes, with a software update scan trigger followed by a wait action after the “Install Updates” step at Pass 1 and Pass 2.

As previously mentioned this all works perfectly fine if the device is unknown. However when a known device is re-imaged it won’t receive software updates during the OSD sequence but it will immediately get the software updates once you log onto the machine, post completion of the OSD task sequence. This points to the device being in the correctly targeted updates collection so I don't know why the updates wont apply during OSD. Any help is appreciated.

Boot image missing tabs

Integrated MDT 2013 and installed ADK 10 on the pc that connects to the SCCM CAS server. I've used the option 'Create Boot Image using MDT' , the boot image appears in SCCM. But somehow it's missing these tabs: customization, optional components and images.

I've ran the script below to update the image properties but no luck:

$SiteCode = “CASSite”
$BootImage = Get-WmiObject -Namespace “root\SMS\site_$($SiteCode)” -Class SMS_BootImagePackage -Filter “PackageID = ‘PACKAGE000ED′” -ErrorAction Stop
$BootImage.ReloadImageProperties()

The default bootimages for x86 and x64 are version 6.3 (ADK 8), tabs appear on these images.

I assume it should make no difference for SCCM if it contains Windows PE 10.0.10586.0 and Windows PE 6.3.9600.16384

SCCM is 2012R2 v 5.07958.1000
