Failed to find a valid network adapter with Windows 10 PE boot images

I'm having a weird quirk with some of my workstation models since updating my boot images to Windows 10 PE.  It is only happening with Lenovo M71z and M72z All in ones.  Basically, when the boot image is loading, it immediately reports that it failed to find a valid network adapter.  Only these models.  All other models we use are imaging fine.  Using the F8 command console, IPCONFIG shows that the adapter is not only there, but has already pulled an IP address.  I went ahead and added the specific network drivers for these models the boot image but there was no change in the behavior.  If I duplicate the task sequence and use the Windows 8.1 boot images, they do not have this issue.

Anyone else having similar issues with Windows 10 PE boot images?

Failed to find a valid network adapter but ipconfig in command prompt shows an IP address

As the title indicates, when we boot some models of computers (not all) into WinPE to start a task sequence, we immediately get an error that states "Failed to find a valid network adapter."  When we press F8 to get a command prompt and run ipconfig, we confirm that we are getting an ip address and we can ping the management point and the local dp.  If we close out of the error and run TsBootShell.exe the wizard successfully pulls the available task sequences.

Thanks in advance.  Let me know if you need further information!

How to install Sccm clients during Osd I have sccm 2012 r2 sp1 (upgraded from Sccm 2012 r2 to Sccm r2 sp1) my question during Osd deployment how to install I mean any additional switches which we used for cu 2,3,4 updates?

Surface pro 4 does not PXE boot

Hello,

I am trying to PXE boot surface pro 4 and for some reason it does not boot. I get the attached message. It tries to PXE over IP v4, then reaches my correct DP that has PXE and WDS, it finds the correct NBP file SMSBoot\x64\wdsnbp.com (this is specified in DHCP option), it appears to be downloading and NBP file is successfully downloaded. Then without prompting to press Enter key for PXE boot, it moves to IPV6.

I have tried below but no luck

  • Upgrade firmware to latest
  • disable secure boot
  • Removed DHCP option - but this time it doesn't even finds my PXE server
  • Verified and made sure MAC address of network adapter is not registered with SCCM DB
  • Tried docking station and no luck

I can PXE boot a desktop on same network with no issues.

Any suggestions would be helpful

Capture an image from a Windows 10 reference machine using capture media from SCCm 2012 R2

Hi all,

Can we Capture an image from a Windows 10 reference machine using capture media created from SCCM 2012 R2 SP1? If yes what are the requirements on the reference machine as well as on the SCCM?

Note: I installed Windows ADK for Windows 10 on SCCM server and added a x64 boot image from the installation path of the ADK to the SCCM and used it to create the capture media.

How to allow Enhance Pin in Task Sequence for Bitlocker?

$

Using SCCM we have a bitlocker sequence. Using our regular procedure we image the PC and once it is done we add a startup pin. The pin we use contains numeric and alpha characters, therefore we have to change the computer policy to allow enhanced pins. We are attempting to add this pin as the computer images therefore we need to add it to the task sequence we use for our bitlockered PCs. The "Enable Bitlocker" task of the sequence allows us to add a PIN but it only allows numeric characters. How do we get it to allow us to use enhanced pins?

Not able to Upgrade Win7 to Win10 using SCCM R2 SP1 CU1

Hello,

I have SCCM R2 SP1 CU1, Windows ADK 10.26624 on Server 2012 R2, client version 5.00.8239.1203. No warnings on site status so all green. I can deploy Win7, Win8, Win10, normal msi and Windows updates no problem. I'm upgrading Win7 Ent 64 to Win10 Ent 64. I have followed the many guides including this one to do an inplace upgrade but with no luck -http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles-tutorials/windows-10/performing-windows-10-place-upgrades-configmgr-2012.html

I would really appreciate some help as I've spent hours trying to figure out the issue. I know it's massive but below is my smsts log file output. Many thanks..

Install Updates fails - 0x80244010

CM 2012 R2 Cu2. Windows 7 x64 SP1 captured image a year ago.

The problem is, that during OSD the update step fails.

Here is what I´ve already tried;

- To set 4-5 of them in a row will not solve anything.
- newest WUA agent installing before this
- new DP is installed to the same LAN, all content distributed (ensured with netstat it´s connected to right DP)
- Googled a lot ;)

...just thinking, what are the chances the image is corrupted?

The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Install Software Updates part 1) in the group (State Restore) with the error code 2149859344

Command line step that runs a specified account cannot be used during windows PE phase.

Hi,

I have an HTA which has a vbscript embedded to add computers to a security group in Active Directory.

But I have the "command line step that runs as a specified account cannot be used during windows PE phase" problem.

The HTA displays correctly and functions on a domain PC running from cmd under a certain account. However as soon as I run it from SCCM PXE winPE environment it obviously does not run as it does not have the permissions or cannot be run with those credentials from PE.

The HTA is shortly after the Apply network settings stage from the task sequence.

My question is this.

Can I run the HTA as another user without embedding credentials into the HTA itself ?

Can I put the credentials into the task sequence some other way ?

Or can I run serviceUI.exe as another account ?

What is the standard

Sorry I can't link the hta here as it has a lot of information I would prefer to not put on technet.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Hi All,

I've recently upgrade a ConfigMgr 2012 R2 SP1 CU2 environment to ConfigMgr 1511, all appeared to be successful.

We've then ran and build and capture tasks sequence using W10 1511 x64, again, everything worked fine.

Next, we've deploy the Capture W10 image using an MDT integrated task sequence, and this is where we had an issue. Any time the ConfigMgr client needed to be initialized, e.g. restarts, the task sequence would sit at "Initializing the System Center Configuration Manager client...." for 30 minutes before going on to the next step, in the SMSTS.log there is a

Operating system deployment without hidden system disk: HOWTO modify BCDBOOT options

$
0
0

Hello Folks,

I would like to to change the BCDBOOT command option during the 'Apply Operating System' step to this:

bcdboot.exe c:\windows /s c: /l Fr-fr

instead of:

bcdboot.exe c:\windows /l Fr-fr

We need to deploy the Windows on a single partition without the hidden system disk.   In other words, the boot manager files need to be on the same disk as the operating system.

Here's the error message I get when I try to run a task sequence without providing the hidden partition:

Bcdboot failed! bcdboot.exe C:\windows /l fr-FR failed (15299)
stdout:
Failure when attempting to copy boot files.

Thank You!
