SCCM client no site code when deploying from OSD Task Sequence

$

We had been using SCCM only for managing Endpoint Protection in our environment. Recently we decided to pursue using SCCM for OS and application deployments. We upgraded to the current build of SCCM 2012 (1602). Everything is green across the board and I have been successful at deploying our Windows 10 image. However, the SCCM client is installed but not configured properly. The field for the site code is blank.

In my OSD Task Sequence, I am using the canned job for the client under the "Setup Windows and Configuration" step. I tried adding the property for SMSSITECODE but that is not allowed in the Installation Properties field.

I then tried the SMSMP property but that didn't change anything.

I am seeing the same entries in the logs as this article:

http://henkhoogendoorn.blogspot.com/2015/02/install-configmgr-2012-clients-on-dmz.html

However, the fix they stated won't work for me and my OSD TS due to not being able to specify the site code.

Next, I followed the last comment from this page:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cccf8fb1-6006-42b5-be30-1dd970ca0ac0/sccm-2012-failed-client-installations

Changing the Active Directory Forest publishing account to a domain admin account also did not correct the issue. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Capturing an Image from newly built Reference Computer fails with error code 0x00004005 - Windows 10 - 1511

I have now built two brand new clean Windows 10 x64 Enterprise reference computers on a virt.  When I go to capture to the Configuration Manager 2012 R2 updated with the latest cu, I get error code 0x00004005.   I get this on the first run through right after building from the Windows 10 - build 10586 that I downloaded last week before MS pulled it.

Offline domain join, multiple ADs

$

Okay, here's the deal; I'm about to install several computers, using MDT which I couldn't find as a category.

Some computers are going to one customers and some to another and they should be joined to the domain at delivery...
So, Offline domainjoin to the rescue I thought, but as we speak it's about 30 computers that should be installed...

I have full access to the ADs so I can provision all the computers and get a "blob.txt" for every single computer and use it in MDT for the Offline domainjoin, but it will be 30 different steps in the Task Sequence just to point to the correct"blob.txt" file...

Can I solve this issue by using the database in MDT? For example save all the blob.txt files in a single location and based on the %OSDComputerName% variable select the correct blob.txt file?

Is there an easier way to do this?

I don't have access to the AD from where the computers will be installed, so Offline domainjoin is the only option as I can see it...

Problem deploying wireless profile in windows 10 OSD

Not sure if this belongs in Windows 10 or sccm but here goes:

I have a wireless profile that I exported as an xml from a windows 7 machine.  I deploy the xml file via a bat file in my TS.  It has always deployed fine fine when deploying a pre-captured win7 OS.  With Windows 10 the task fails and when i check smsts i get an error

Failed to run the action: Configure Wireless.

Incorrect function. (Error: 80070001; Source: Windows)TSManager

When I run the bat file manually on my windows 10 machine it applies fine.  I have tried applying it then using netsh to export it again and it is the exact same as the original file.  Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance!

I am having issues pxe booting a Lenovo M800-10FW0007US on SCCM

I have tried rebuild the driver package as wells looking through the logs I am not sure why its not allowing me to network boot to sccm. I will start the PC up hit enter choose network boot hit f12 and enter to go to sccm but it just hangs then reboots again. The process in the log starts at 2:51pm to a little after 3pm. The machine I am using has never been imaged brand new I grabbed the drivers using double driver to import them into sccm then I use a wmi query statement to find the model here is an example. The message I find is that the device is not in the database and I have never ran into this issue imaging desktops using sccm.

Below is the query that I use in the task sequence to find the model of desktop when pxe booting/imaging

SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE Model LIKE "%10FW0007US%"

I can email the log file or post it on here if that would help

HP Zbook Studio G3 BSOD's upon first reboot when OS and drivers have been deployed

$

I am using SCCM 2012 R2 to deploy an image Windows 7 Ent SP1 x64 to this system. I use this same image for all other HP devises with no issues. I downloaded and expanded the driver package SP73082 and installed those drivers on SCCM like I have for all other devices. Upon the completion of installing the OS and drivers and at the first reboot the system will BSOD and restart, at which point I attempt to stop the page from changing with no luck, so am unable to capture the error code that is being generated. I validated that the drivers were the correct ones, the number of files and folders are the same. I even changed the amount of RAM to see if that was the issue to no avail.

Troubleshooting steps:

I have validated that the drivers are the correct ones for this model and OS.
I have verified that the drivers are setup correctly within SCCM 2012 and are being pushed out to the system during the installation process.
There is nothing that shows this system is failing to load any of the drivers or that it is having an issue with the OS.
The system once the initial reboot happens continues to BSOD. Even attempting to load in safe mode does not resolve. Loads up to disk.sys and fails.

I used this image today to image a HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G2 with no issues so I know the image is working.

I also verified that the drivers when uncompressed match what was imported into SCCM to deploy to this system.

Any assistance with understanding what could be causing this would be great.

UDI Variables and Task Sequence

$
0
0

We are using UDI and CM2012 task sequences to build our Windows 7 machines.  In the UDI wizard when building a machine it askes you "please enter the Description for the PC"  this Description is what we want in the description properites inside of Active Directory.   In UDI the variable is called %description% and this variable is written to the registry here:  HKLM\Software\Acme\[description]

Then later on in the task sequence we call a powershell script that runs this:

$computers = (get-ItemProperty hklm:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MPSD\OSD).OSDComputerName
$description= (get-ItemProperty hklm:\SOFTWARE\Acme).Description
$dom = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Domain]::GetCurrentDomain()
$root = $dom.GetDirectoryEntry()

foreach($computer in $computers){

    $search = [System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher]$root
    $search.Filter = "(cn=$computer)"
    $result = $search.FindOne()
    $computerToUpdate = [ADSI]$result.path
    $computerToUpdate.Description = $description
    $computerToUpdate.SetInfo()

}

This used to work.  We would build workstations and the AD Description would be updated with the needed information (i.e.  HR - Building 3 - Mary Brown)

But it no longer works.  Now, we build machines and the AD description never gets updates.   The only thing tha has changed is we've upgraded to CM2012 1602.

Not sure what log file would cover this or where to poke around.....

SCCM 2012 R2 SP1

Deploying Windows 10

The task sequence is failing on 3 models. It works on 2 models.

I even tried creating the client package again but no success. two models get the task sequence completed without any problems and 3more models just fails. I have recreated the drivers and tried everything possible but im at at dead end now. I have attached all the logs from the failed computer as well. would you be able to take a quick look and see whats going on?

Deploying Provisioning packages using SCCM upgrade TS

Hi,

I want to run provisioning package with SCCM task sequence during inplace upgrade. I know the offline command of running provisioning package DISM /Image=C:\ /Add-ProvisioningPackage /PackagePath:application.ppkg.

But i want an Online command for running the package so that it can be applied after post installation phase because during in-place upgrade offline command for adding provisioning package fails.

Thanks

Failed to find a valid network adapter with Windows 10 PE boot images

$

I'm having a weird quirk with some of my workstation models since updating my boot images to Windows 10 PE.  It is only happening with Lenovo M71z and M72z All in ones.  Basically, when the boot image is loading, it immediately reports that it failed to find a valid network adapter.  Only these models.  All other models we use are imaging fine.  Using the F8 command console, IPCONFIG shows that the adapter is not only there, but has already pulled an IP address.  I went ahead and added the specific network drivers for these models the boot image but there was no change in the behavior.  If I duplicate the task sequence and use the Windows 8.1 boot images, they do not have this issue.

Anyone else having similar issues with Windows 10 PE boot images?

Hi folks,

Does WinPE 10 supports any JDBC query?

this will be used for querying ServiceNow via an AutoIT wizard or an HTA.

Or if there's any other alternative to achieve this.

thanks in advance

SCCM2012 Deploy Windows from Original Source using WinPE and PXE

$

Is there a way to use SCCM 2012 to deploy Windows using the original source DVD extracted and then launching Setup.exe but also add system specific drivers.   I would also like to keep the configuration manager client off these machines.

I don't mind having to click through the setup steps like I would from a DVD but I have tons of machines I need to install a fresh copy of Windows and Drivers on that will not be joining any domain or network.  These will be stand alone computers.   Using a DVD is slow and then I have to install the drivers so automating this a bit using a network install would be a huge time saver.

This would be Windows 7 Pro and I am running System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager SP1.I

I think it can be done if there is a way to launch the setup from a network share (even if I have to make the shared folder open to everyone during the process)

Deploy OEM Windows 7 using SCCM 2012

I know that when it comes to licensing terms that this is a touchy subject but here is the deal.   We have hundreds of Dell Laptops (all the same model) that are at the end of the lease and since we are going One2One with our students we are going to return the laptops.  The problem is they want the laptops back to the factory OEM windows installation.   I have been trying to find some detail information on how to create a task sequence to do this using the OEM Windows disc but all I get is bits and pieces of information and most of that is that it is against licensing when technically it is not.  I am just trying to save myself the pain of having to use a disc on hundreds of laptops.

This would be Windows 7 Pro SP1 OEM x64 and I have a SCCM2012 server that I use to image our volume licensed Windows 7 and 10.   I also have the MDT installed to the SCCM Console if that helps.   I will not be joining any domain and just needs to be default out of the factory windows installed to a generic workgroup or whatever.

Hoping someone has done this before and could be of help.   I have copies of the Windows 7 OEM disc that came with the computers so my goal would be to just use that ISO to make the WIM to deploy Windows 7 and not actually capture the OS from a machine.

EDIT:  I found this searching the internet:  http://mattrk.com/post/84097362434/windows-7-oem-slicslp-activation-via-wdsmdt

I extracted the WIM and think I just need some guidance on how to put the task sequence together to copy the appropriate OEM Cert files back.   The method using the script does not seem to work for me as my setup does not really match their LiteTouch or whatever task that is referenced.

Hi,

OS deployment was working fine with SCCM 2012 R2. After upgrading to SP2, am getting the error message:

I am running all my servers in VMWare Workstation 12.

Failed to find a valid network adapter but ipconfig in command prompt shows an IP address

As the title indicates, when we boot some models of computers (not all) into WinPE to start a task sequence, we immediately get an error that states "Failed to find a valid network adapter."  When we press F8 to get a command prompt and run ipconfig, we confirm that we are getting an ip address and we can ping the management point and the local dp.  If we close out of the error and run TsBootShell.exe the wizard successfully pulls the available task sequences.

Thanks in advance.  Let me know if you need further information!

TS hangs on Downloading OS image

I'm not seeing any errors in smsts.log I've included it as far as the TS gets below. After this point the TS hangs forever. Are there logs on the server I can look at to see what might be happening here?

The wim file this OS  Image references is also used in another OS Image, the only difference is that this OS Image has been enabled for multicast. The unicast version works flawlessly, the multicast hangs.

C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages has a folder for the OS Image with the correct Image ID but the contents are empty

UDI and online capture

$

I would like to run a Windows 10 task sequence deployment that uses hard-link migration. To help prevent issues such as no AC power or no ethernet connection, I have added UDI and deleted all pages but the "Deployment Readiness" page. The problem with this is now data is not captured. I do not have a MigData location setup because all data will be done using hardlink migration. from what I have read UDI always does offline migration. Is there anyway to make it use online? The only difference between the working task sequence and this one is I do not skip the wizard in one (the one that is not migrating data).
