Deployed TS does not run after deadline is reached

Dear all,

I created a TS for application updates in the environment (SCCM 1802), deployed it required with an end date. So, the end date is reached but on some clients the TS do not run immediately. Via Client Center is it possible to see the advertisement but the user cannot see the TS in software center and didn't run immediately after the client is online. But if I rerun the advertisement via Client Center or Collection Tools it works.
All remaining clients are online and receiving other bits via SCCM but only the TS is not working. I did already an agent repair, but no success. The clients haven't got maintenance windows...

Any hints? It's very confusing for me.

Best Regards,
Sebastian

Trying to get Windows 10 1803 added to operating system image and upgrade package but receiving an error when I get to part to add to the upgrade package.

SCCM is running version 1802 plus hotfix kb 4339794 & kb 4163547.

ADK was upgraded; boot image shows updated OS 10.0.17134.1.  I was able to add the operating system wim file without error but when I attempt to point to setup.exe for the operating system upgrade package I get the error.  The operating system was distributed to the DP and shows green.  What am I missing?

iso file downloaded from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

log file shows:

Description = "Failed to get the image property from the source WIM file due to error 80070002";
ErrorCode = 2147942402;
File = "..\\sspimagepackage.cpp";
Line = 593;
Operation = "ExecMethod";
ParameterInfo = "SMS_OperatingSystemInstallPackage";
ProviderName = "WinMgmt";
StatusCode = 2147749889;

If I click on the OS properties i imported, wrong version is showing.  shows Windows PE.  How do I get the correct ISO that will have Windows 10 Pro as an option??

Thank you,

Melissa

Hey friends,

we are using a bat-script (or powershell is also possible) after Operating System Tasksequence in SMSTSPostAction.

Does anybody know if there is a possibility to show that script in front of the Windows login screen so that the user can interact with it?

Many tanks in advance

SCCM - Capture and restore with SMP error

hi guys.

first time setting up USMT in SCCM. im really stuck at what I'm doing wrong. I have a state migration setup. latest version SCCM 2012 CM. I'm trying to migrate windows 7 machine to windows 10. Same machine. VM as im just testing first. My company does not want to do inplace migration. Like to do Wipe and reload with data restore and back up.

I have attached screenshot of my task sequence and just the error portion of smsts.log

I have kept the default setting of the capture and restore setting of task sequence for testing. using default miguser and migapp.xml for the task sequence.

capture and restore is not working. imaging is fine. I ran the task sequence through the OS Sccm client method. The SMPfolder has full share rights to everyone.

https://imgur.com/a/etkgg6V screenshot of task sequence and just errors showing smts.log

full logs of smts.log from client.

How to monitor client/DP communication during OSD

$

I am trying to determine which DP clients are connecting to during OSD. We have 1 <g class="gr_ gr_102 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="102" id="102">promary</g> server and 2 sites, each with <g class="gr_ gr_91 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" data-gr-id="91" id="91">it's</g> own DP. We have been having all sorts of odd issues recently, and I discovered a few days ago that a lot of our subnets were in 2 separate boundary groups. I'm still relatively new to SCCM ( we had an external consultant set up our system for us about 8 months ago), but I thought a subnet could only be in 1 boundary group? It is especially important for us that clients contact the correct DP, because if they don't, then they send all their traffic over a 50Mb link that isn't just for System Center, so there's not a whole lot of bandwidth for SCCM to use. I assume that deployments were taking anything from 3 to 4 hours (at a site with a DP on the LAN) was because the clients were pulling content from the wrong DP....?

Anyway, back to the point of all this - is there a log file somewhere that will show me where the client pulls <g class="gr_ gr_1457 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" data-gr-id="1457" id="1457">it's</g> content from during OSD?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.......and if you are reading this, Ace, then Yes, I know......

Win 10 1709 - Failed to wait for Ccmexec service to be fully operational

Windows 10 1709 OSD task sequence failing.
You can clearly see the Waiting for CcmExec service to be fully operational is immediately followed by..... service is fully operational which the logs appears to show is NOT correctly detected.
This appears to be specific to 1709 so perhaps a change in there is causing this?
Note, this is a VM so the timing due to higher I/O than physical is perhaps involved.
1) Has anyone seen this and implemented a workaround?
2) Does anyone have a fix?

PS I realise the Date/time is not in the screenshot, but literally everything above occurred during the same 1 second.

OSD stuck with "ccmsetup is still running. will retry in 1 minute." after update to 1710

After we updated our SCCM to 1710 we face an issue that I could not find any explanation anywhere in the net.

OSD to install Windows 7 starts running. basically these are the steps:

- Partition Disk
- Apply Operating System Image
- Apply Windows Settings
- Apply Network Settings
- Apply Driver Package
- Setup Windows and ConfigMgr
- Set-ExecutionPolicy for Powershell to RemoteSigned (using a package)
- Install various Install  VC Redist (using packages)- Restart Computer
- Install Package 1
- Install Package 2
- Install Package 3
- ...

It works until the step to restart the computer. Before it used to reboot and continue installing the packages. Now it does not reboot, installs Package1 and remains displaying "Installing Package 1". Even 24 hours later it remains there.

Checking the logs led me to a log I never had a look at before this issue.

RebootCoordinator.log stetes every minute: Ccmsetup is still running. Will retry in 1 minute.

Had a look in the Taskmanager. Ccmsetup is NOT running.

As we installed many hundred systems with this TS up to SCCM build 1702 I assume it is something connected to the way how SCCM detects if sccmsetup is finalized.

Thanks in advance for any hints, ideas or even a solution.

which Kind of permissions do i need to permit on all of my Servers, if I want to discover all of my Windows Servers and Clients within my Network?

I want to discover all databases and local installed Software on each Servers or Clients...

Do I Need to create some kind of Service Account who Needs local admin rights on every endpoint?

What is Best practice in this case?

SCCM- OSD error 0x800700A1

Hello,

I work help desk for a company, and we utilize SCCM OSD deployments to image machines. I have a machine that was successfully imaged in the past, but now I cannot get it to re-image.

To image, I boot from a disk, then plug in a password at the task sequence welcome, it retrieves avaliable policy, I then select the appropriate task sequence (in this case Windows 7x64 Role Based)... All that is good.

It then goes to Format and Partition the HDD

I then receive:

Task Sequence: Windows 7 x64 Role Based has failed with the error code (0x800700A1). For more information, contact your system admin or helpdesk. Computer will automatically restart in 15 min.

I can image other machines fine. Here is some of the log if that helps... Thank You

Dear Experts,

We have deployed Feature update to Windows 10 (business editions), version 1709, en-us thru SCCM, we have downloaded the update to a deployment package and scheduled an Available deployment for PCs. but now we are seeing an issue this update is not showing up in software center for most of the users.

Where in all the other Patches and applications are getting displayed in the software center without issues, we have verified Agent version is up to date (1802 with hotfix 1 installed) client is having updated information's.

we have tried to reset the SCCM agent WMI is working fine uninstalled the agent and installed again but still we are seeing this issue in the user PC.

Kindly suggest how we can solve this issue. as we have a deadline to complete this update before this month end.

OSD "Apply operating system" task fails with 80007002

Hello,

I have created a very simple basic OSD. The task "Apply operating system" fails.

The content (a WIM file from the original W10 1709 install CD) is on the distribution point.

The status message queue says:

The task sequence execution engine failed executing the action (Apply Operating System) in the group (Install Operating System) with the error code 2147942402
Action output: ... aMulticastContentSources, sDestination, dwFlags, L"", 0, dwPackageFlags, mapNetworkAccess ), HRESULT=80070002 (..\resolvesource.cpp,3582)

Download() failed. 80190191.
InstallScripted( g_InstallPackageID, g_ImageIndex, targetVolume, g_ConfigPackageID, g_ConfigFileName, g_RunFromNet ), HRESULT=80070002 (applyos.cpp,534). The operating system reported error 2147942402: The system cannot find the file specified.

If I press F8 on the computer concerned, I am able to ping the SCCM server. Unfortunately, the smsts.log is too big to share here.

SCCM Version: 5.00.8634.1000

As a test I created a MDT Deployment task sequence. That one also fails with the same error.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

With kind regards,

Willem-Jan

Automatic reboot by Upgrade Operating System

Hi,

I'm currently busy with an in-place upgrade of windows 10. But because of a disk encryption system the EFI files need to be changed just after the windows installation and before the first reboot. But the step Upgrade Operating System is automatically rebooting although I have set the OSDSetupAdditionalUpgradeOptions to /noreboot /ReflectDrivers "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\ABC003BF" /ResizeRecoveryPartition Disable.

Is it possible to disable the reboot of the Upgrade Operating System step? The upgrade reboot should be initiated by Restart Computer and not by Upgrade Operating System.

Could someone please advise?

No CCM Folder, No SCCM Agent After the Apply WIM/Windows Setup Step

Hi

This task sequence works on some devices, but on some physical devices it bombs out right after the WIM is applied and Windows goes into OOBE setup phase.

So whilst there are issues with the Unattend.xml we are using (on this new 1709 TS) - This does not break the task sequence on other models of device, or Hyper-V. On devices failing to run this TS, they are not joined to the domain.

I would head straight to the NetSetup.log for reasons why the domain join failed, but it seems that log file is binary now?? Does anyone else have experience of NetSetup.log on Windows 10? I tried extracting the .etl trace file but its garbage, with no log entries, so of no use.

There are also no CCM logs so no help there.

There are a number of things I can guess at when might be the cause, however I would rather see some evidence of the failing to point me in the correct direction but i dont see any information locally that can achieve that.

Any ideas?

Client fails to request user state store - no local SMP found

Have a 2012 client, and we are attempting a very basic task sequence that requests the state store, does a a capture, and releases the state store. This is intended for an in-place migration, so no computer association has been created.

However, we are getting odd failures.

Client1 resides at IP a.b.c.d, and that subnet is listed in the 'USMT test boundary' boundary group, as well as the range a.b.c.1-a.b.c.254. The Boundary group is associated with a Desktop based DP, as well as our dedicated SMP server.

When the request state store runs, it fails and this is what we find is smsts.log

What is even more counfounding is that if I add a new boundary group with just this subnet, and associate it only with our SMP, the task sequence will fail to run, stating 'The software could not be found on any servers at this time', when I know the boundary is listed in both boundary groups. Removing this second boundary group reverts the issue back to the error about not finding a SMP.

Thoughts?
