number of advertisements on collections

$

Hello,

We are using sccm 1806 and are facing the following challenge:

We are using a deployment task sequence for installing Windows 10, the task sequence can be started from an existing Windows 7 operating system and will perform a wipe and load of the exsiting device. The task sequence works fine.

in order to force the installation on a specific collection we use a script to create several advertisements on this collection, these advertisements have a program available time ( Date X @ 22:00 PM ), a mandatory deployment time ( Date X @ 22:00 PM ) and an expiration time ( Date X+1 @ 04:00 AM ). And we have such an advertisment for each day for as long as we want to deploy.

Now the problem that we are facing is : if we have to many of these advertisements ( don't know the exact number for now 3 works but 20 no longer works ) the task sequence will no longer execute. We recieve the specific error message as described here ( tsagent.log the 0x80004005 : https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4022075/summary-of-changes-in-system-center-configuration-manager-current-bran ). So does anybody know of such a specific limitation , what is exactly the number of advertisements we can set on a collection ?

And secondly can we use an alternative way of forcing the install @ 22:00 Pm ? The reason we are not reverting to maintenance windows is because we have several task sequences running specific items and if we use maintenance windows we will block execution of all of these items and not only the execution of the Windows 10 upgrade task sequence.

Thanks for the feedback

Greetings

I'm getting the following error message when building a new machine via SCCM, the machine automatically restarts after the error and the endpoint functions 100% well after that.

I'm guessing there is something in the task sequence that is causing this error. any advise?

Optional applications selected via UDI interface and stand alone media

I'm running SCCM 2012 sp1 with MDT integration.   I'm using a UDI from MDT to set some basic machine informatoin for imaging (select the OU in the domain, etc).  I also have some optional apps that a tech can select from the UDI to install during the TS.

All is working great with network based installations.  However, I have a need for some installations using stand alone media.  Is there a way to create stand alone media that will include those optional apps in the MDT UDI so that those apps can install during the TS?   I don't think there is, but there are more brilliant minds than mine out there so I thought I would ask.  Maybe there's a way to generate stand alone media via a PS script or something, and have it include the additional packages so they are on the media and can be called via the TS when it runs.

Thanks!

Hello Experts,

is there a way (tool/script/even sql query) that helps us to know  1) If a known/unknow SCCM client can PXE boot successfully for a selected DP, 2) In continuation to first, to find further if its able to execute a selected Task Sequence successfully? . We would like to do these two tests to find problems and fix problems at PXE environment & packages availability level from PXE client pint of view when Imaging happens

Thanks, Vasu

Update patch installation hangs - SCCM 1806 + Windows 10 1709 + build and capture

$

After updating the SCCM environment to SCCM 1806 we see issues with applying patching during the OS task sequenc of Windows 7 1709.

1. We created a new wim based with a little customization during the build and capture task sequence based on WIndows 10 1709 (original wim)

2. We added the new wim into the existing Windows 10 task sequence.

3. Everything seems fine till the step "install patches". Scan is taking place - found 28 patches to install - downloads patches into ccmcache. Then it stucks and nothing happes. Last entry in smsts.log is "waiting for job notifications".

Task Sequence works for Windows 10 1607 and Windows 7 1709 with the old configuration manager client.

Is this a general problem?

Any idea would be welcome

Both client software center firstly show status Downloading Feature Pack and after that goes to Installing state, But after 3 three days the status is still on installing.

Please help.

Windows 10 1803 Fails right after Apply Operating System

We recently upgraded our SCCM environment to SCCM Version 1806. We also upgraded Windows ADK on the SCCM to support Windows 10 1803. The boot images did not update automatically so i updated them manually. I right clicked on the boot image and selected Update Distribution Point. I checked the box 'Reload this boot image with the current Windows PE version from ADK. (Current Windows ADK version: 10.0.17.134.0) It upgraded the boot images. I built a custom Windows 10 1803 build with our required applications as i normally do. I sysprepped the WIM as i normally do. The Windows 10 1709 Task Sequences still work with no problem. I cannot for the life of me get 1803 to work. I am currently waiting for this OSD to fail so i can grab the log files. It keeps failing with the same error. 0x80220001. My PC names are also not over 16 characters. I am not using a unattend file either as i have never used one with SCCM so far and have had no issues with deployments. Windows activates, joins the domain succesfully etc. Has anyone run into an issue with OSD and Windows 10 1803? Did not setup the boot images correctly? Any help would be awesome. Ive been pulling my hair out for 2 weeks now. I even created a brand new Win10 build from scratch and made a new WIM. Thanks,

Matt D

Unable to update boot image on distribution points.

Hello,

I am currently running SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU2 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 server. I recently added drivers to my default "Boot image (x64)" that is version 6.3.9600.1684 and OS version 10.0.105.86.0. When I try to update the distribution points, after making the additions, I receive an error in the wizard. Every part of the process reports errors.

I checked the permissions for the folder \\servername\SMS_site\OSD\bin and the "System" account has full control. If there is something else I need to check in this aspect, please don't hesitate to make a suggestion.

I removed the Boot Image from all Content Locations and distributed it back. The Boot Image successfully distributed and I am able to successfully boot to WinPE from PC models that already worked. However, the PC's needing those new drivers still start WinPE and then reboot because my boot image is still missing those NIC drivers.

I thought about performing the steps in this article:

https://www.niallbrady.com/2013/03/20/pxe-boot-failure-after-upgrading-to-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-service-pack-1/

Would that be the next step to try? If so, is there anything I need to know about performing this? Will any drivers have to be injected again?

Thank you

If you move the ContentLib off to another server, will the Primary Site Server rebuild it there on itself since everything from the console is 'supposed' to be on it?
