Multiple Custom Task Sequence for Windows 10 in-place upgrade

Hi All,

Some computers in my organization were installed by using en-US Windows OS and some are installed by using en-GB. I followed the article by sccm team below and created a task sequence with Win10 x64 en-US. The upgrade for computers which has en-US as the Operating system language completed successfully. en-GB computers failed. Now I need to create another task sequence for en-GB computers by using Win10 en-GB by using the same zip file that sccm team published but I dont know how to have multiple TS. Renaming packages and TS didnt work btw.

Hi,

We are facing a strange issue (disk space) during OSD of fresh Server 2008 R2 SP1(using Install.wim from ISO) on a UCS Blade using CM 2012 SP1 CU1. We are deploying the task sequence via Bootable Media.

Hardware config of the UCS Blade: 32GB RAM, 40GB LUN for OS, 13.5GB LUN for Data

OS deploys successfully, joins to domain but it fails during "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager". When I checked the Client.MSI.LOG file, i found something strange that it failed due to 'PercentageDiskSpace Out-Of-Range' error. I'm afraid, if it meant that the disk doesn't have insufficient space. Because the C:\ drive had 22.5 GB free out of 40 GB, when I logged in.

Even I had Error Catching steps in TS for copying the logs to a network share, but it doesn't execute as well.

Please help, it drags me over past two days. Getting the error again and again.

Hi I'm really confused about this.

I upgraded 5 clients to Windows 10 via task sequence. They all have been upgraded, but the task sequence only succeded on 3 of them. The 2 of the 5 is still in state Running and have not completed all the tasks from task sequence. The last step they have reported is the reboot after the upgrade step.

I think is a related to network issues, but they have access to the sccm server and in the first task i modify the host file so they could do dns to the sccm server. There is no boot file, so its properly not a driver issue.

Name resolution issue with OSD

I am trying to PXE boot my computers for an OSD deployment, but when Windows PE boots up, after Preparing Network Connections, the computer reboots. I am running SCCM 2012 R2. This is definitely a DNS related issue, more specifically a name resolution issue. Why is the name not resolving. Pinging the IP of the Domain works, but pinging the FQDN leaves me with a failed to find host error

Applications not installing during UDI Task Sequence

I have created a bare metal task sequence for Windows 10 in SCCM 2012 R2-SP1-CU2. I am using UDI/MDT 2013 integrated into SCCM.

I have a couple of packages that install with no problem. No matter what I do my applications will not install. They are assigned to a collection and I am able to choose them when configuring the UDI install programs page. They are configured to all install whether or not a user is logged on. What am I missing or is this a bug?

At work we are considering to do a automated "Operating System Deployment" with sccm or "System Center Configuration Manager 2012 r2". Since the process of configuring is quite long I was wondering if it was worth it. We have round 10 to 15 new computers that are identical. As I understand that is a prerequisite, to have identical computers. The same deployment does not work on different configurations?

So, does it make sense to do it for 10 to 15 computes? Is there a site where is this kind of recommendation stated?

Hey everyone, Need some help with trying to reimage a MacBook Pro with Windows. I keep Getting a 8007000D error, I have Diskparted the HD, cleaned it recreated, no luck. It just wont take the image. Keeps bombing on the OSDDISK part, but the crazy thing is in the Task sequence I don't have ANY partitioning Jobs assigned.

I'd like to know if it's possible to deploy Windows 10 pro upgrade (Without reinstall or format) to clients using Windows 8.1 pro. If so can you show me the precedure? if not why and how can we migrate to Windows 10 and which version? our organization is using SCCM 2012 R2 SP1.

Run PowerShell Step Failures

I have a "Run PowerShell Script" Step in an OSD Task Sequence.

This script copies some files to a location and then runs an executable.

If I use ROBOCOPY to copy the files, i get an exit code 1 (files copied ok) and the executable fired, does what it needs to and quits happily.

If I use XCOPY (external call) or Copy-Item (PS Cmdlet) - the files still copy and land in the correct place, exit with code 0, but the executable doesn't fire up and doesn't do what it is meant to.

Any ideas?

Example code (Not working:)

In both cases, C:\Installs\sx1install folder creates, gets fully populated with all required files and folders (including subfolders etc), but the setup.exe doesn't work on the first example.

What is it about robocopy that makes this work/not work?

The non-working script works perfectly once in windows by doing a set-location to the location of the script package and then executing.

We need to try and find a way to get this to execute and return 0 as a return code 1 bombs out the task sequence. We need to stop the TS if the executable returns 1 as this is a critical part of our builds, so just setting success codes to 1 or continue or error are not a choice.

Query

SCCM is installed successfully. We are trying to deploy OS via SCCM(Boot images are configured, OS update packages are configured, Install images are configured). Now when we start deploying OS we faced below error.(we also tried to do the same testing with creating multiple tasks sequences with the help of different OS)

CM 2012 R2 Cu2. Windows 7 x64 SP1 captured image a year ago.

The problem is, that during OSD the update step fails.

Here is what I´ve already tried;

- To set 4-5 of them in a row will not solve anything.
- newest WUA agent installing before this
- new DP is installed to the same LAN, all content distributed (ensured with netstat it´s connected to right DP)
- Googled a lot ;)

...just thinking, what are the chances the image is corrupted?

Hello, we have sccm2012 sp2 and we are creating a bootable media on USB through "Create Task Sequence Media", the usb boots fine but we are getting "Failed To run Task Sequence. There are no task sequences available for this computer"

I am getting "Unable to find a volume that is suitable for staging the boot image. Element not found. (Error: 80070490; Source: Windows). Failed to stage WinPE. Code(0x80070490) errors in smts.log. I also see Volume C:\ because it is not suitable as the system partition. The device has RAID turned on. It appears the TS does not recognize the SATA drive. My WinPE is current and wonder what storage driver is required to inject into the WinPE boot media. Any suggestion?

Hello Folks,

I would like to to change the BCDBOOT command option during the 'Apply Operating System' step to this:

bcdboot.exe c:\windows /s c: /l Fr-fr

instead of:

bcdboot.exe c:\windows /l Fr-fr

We need to deploy the Windows on a single partition without the hidden system disk. In other words, the boot manager files need to be on the same disk as the operating system.

Here's the error message I get when I try to run a task sequence without providing the hidden partition:

Hello Folks -

So I have a Windows 7 image I created with SCCM SP1 Build and capture. I understand that the CM client is part of the build and capture image.

We just recently updated to R2 - so I decided to update the Windows 7 task sequence to install the new SCCM Client package. And it seems to bomb out (Task sequence ends) after trying to install the client. I think there may be a problem where the new client has issues upgrading/uninstalling the old client (on the image) before it can install the new..

Has anyone run into this before?

It certainly is failing on the client.msi install. I can post the logs when I get back to the office.
