Multiple Custom Task Sequence for Windows 10 in-place upgrade

$

Hi All,

Some computers in my organization were installed by using en-US Windows OS and some are installed by using en-GB. I followed the article by sccm team below and created a task sequence with Win10 x64 en-US. The upgrade for computers which has en-US as the Operating system language completed successfully. en-GB computers failed. Now I need to create another task sequence for en-GB computers by using Win10 en-GB by using the same zip file that sccm team published but I dont know how to have multiple TS. Renaming packages and TS didnt work btw.

Task Sequence fails and reebots in 15 minutes - anyway to extend this?

We are
using SCCM 12 for OSD with relatively few problems, we do obviously get the few
odd failures and the standard 15:00 minute countdown However if we leave the
machine un attended and miss though point, it reboots into windows and at a
quick glance it looks like it’s built ok<o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Is
there a way of setting the timers to something like 900 minutes so the
error stays on screen?<o:p></o:p>

I had a
good Google but can’t find anything?<o:p></o:p>

Thanks in
advance!<o:p></o:p>

Applications limit in the Task Sequence?

Hello,

SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU2.

I have a Task Sequence for HP laptops with the very last step "Install Applications" where I deploy HP related applications, such as 3D DriveGuard. As far as I can see I can add multiple applications in this step. Is there any limit for a number of applications I can include in this step? The reason I'm asking is that I can't get it working for more than 3 applications. The third application always fails.  I tried to re-arrange the order and the application that failed the first time works fine if it's placed above, but it always fails on the third one.

Thank you.

Where is the Bitlocker PIN stored?

I will soon be involved in a big project around OS deployment using SCCM 2012R2, including configuration of Bitlocker (TPM and PIN). I am aware that I can set a random PIN using the variable OSDBitLockerPIN but where is the PIN actually stored so it can be retrieved after deployment to allow login?

what could be reason for " When initiate PXE deployment, it takes much time to retrieve policy"?

Hi All,

I am upgrading windows7 machine to windows10 using inplace upgrade task sequence provided by vNext community below is thelinks from where i have downloade the Task sequence script and imported the same in my SCCM server.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2015/06/16/revised-content-for-the-win10-in-place-upgrade-via-task-sequence-for-configmgr.aspx

Here is the link which i followed to import and configure the task sequence,

http://joshheffner.com/deploy-windows-10-upgrades-using-configuration-manager-in-just-2-steps/

Task sequence is working fine and my machines are upgrading to windows 10 withou any issue and my task sequence looks like this,

Now the issue is post upgradation display drivers are not being restored back and due to that users are not able to find hibernate options and they can not even project their machines as well, Instead of that Microsoft basic display drivers gets installed,

So in order to resolve that i have created a driver package for HP ProBook 4440s mode and add a task for apply driver package there i have specified the driver package and used below mention query so that it will only apply to right mode,

select * from win32_computersystem where model like '%HP ProBook 4430s%', Now my task sequence look like this,

I upgraded a machine using that task sequence and when i checked the driver was not installed on that machine, Instead of that still Microsoft basic display adapter was there.

Could somebody please help me with this

Hi Guys,

I am sccm admin for my organisation

I am planning to deploy most recent drivers to the operating system on lenovo laptops but problem is Lenovo drivers-Sccm package for windows7 are too old.

It is difficult to manually create package for each catagary of drivers using recent drivers executables.

So is there any alternatives for Lenovo systems so i can update driver using SCCM??? This will really save my time,

Thanks for your help.

How to inject drivers in the Windows 10 upgrade task sequence

Hello There,

I used this article (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt426642(v=vs.85).aspx) and created a Windows 10 upgrade task sequence. This works perfectly fine, but the only issue is that I cannot inject driver packages to this task sequence. I have a few flavour of Lenovo laptops with different driver models.

Windows 10 installs most of the drivers during the upgrade, but some of the video drivers are not installing since they are not in the Windows package. Please advise if you have any suggestions that may help in my situation.

Thanks,
Sameer

Hi there

Working on a Windows 10 POC, using SCCM 2012.

Going well apart from one persistent issue.

Applications will fail to install in the task sequence with an error I haven't before.

Here's part of AppEnforce.log.

The key part of the log is Waiting for process 2448 to finish.  Timeout = 0 minutes.

This is odd because that app has a Maximum Allowed Runtime of 15 minutes.

Other apps fail with the same error - Timeout = 0 minutes - even though they have a Maximum Allowed Runtime of 60 minutes or more.

Anyone seen this with SCCM 2012 / Windows 10 task sequences?

Merry Christmas

UDI Custom Variables + Customsettings.ini Processing

$

Hi folks,

I plan to work on a UDI (new computer) scenario and will be building a custom page with dropdown options related to CM Site Code, AD Domain & OU selections.

With these, I'd also like to extend the MDT database with couple of variables containing LaptopOU & DesktopOU that will have location specific OU details in them, no default gateway logic though.

Also, I plan to make use of Customsettings.ini for computing OSDComputerName that will contain some logic with these UDI custom page variables i.e. CM Site Code and standard architecture & serialnumber detection.

My question is that once we've the data selected in UDI wizard, will these custom variables beavailable to work with my standard customsettings.ini?

I'll be testing it as well however would like to know from experts regarding fine-tuning this approach.

thanks in advance :-)

SMS Agent Host service does not start after Win10 in place upgrade

I am testing Win 10 in place upgrade by using a custom task sequence on 8 computers. After the upgrade, Sms agent host service got disabled on 6 of these computers and if I trigger "Machine Policy Retrieval and evaluation cycle", I get the error message "The selected cycle can not start". I thought that I need to wait for a while for the service to start by itself and it has been more than 15 hours and it is not working.

On the other hand, 2 of these computers has no problems.

I can manually start the service by the way.

Have you guys faced this problem with Win10 in place upgrade. I used the custom task below while upgrading.

Error after UEFI PXE Windows 7 OSD

$

Hi Everyone,

After imaging a PC using UEFI PXE I get an error when Windows 7 first tries to boot.  The error is from Windows Boot Manager.

Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disk and restart your computer.

2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."

3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc000000d

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Name resolution issue with OSD

I am trying to PXE boot my computers for an OSD deployment, but when Windows PE boots up, after Preparing Network Connections, the computer reboots. I am running SCCM 2012 R2. This is definitely a DNS related issue, more specifically a name resolution issue. Why is the name not resolving. Pinging the IP of the Domain works, but pinging the FQDN leaves me with a failed to find host error

Here is my smsts.log to see if anyone can find out why the name is not resolving:

OSD: smsappinstall stopped after install some application

Environment: SCCM 2012 R2 CU3

Where: Random Site and Random PC

In my company environment, during OSD installing, random application will stop after it is successfully installed. I ran taskmgr and found "smsappinstall" processes was still running, but the installation has been done (setup and msiexec has been closed, why did it not close). so I force close this processes , then OSD can continue.

After the OSD, I checked the software, the software was installed.

So how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!
