USB Drivers not installing during Win10 OS Task Sequence on Lenovo M91p

Hi,

I'm running SCCM 2012 R2 (with Win10 support of course) and I'm trying to deploy Windows 10 Enterprise OS Deployment (OSD) Task Sequence (TS) to several computer models (All Lenovo), beside one model – Lenovo M91p, everything's OK.

On the Lenovo M91p I got a device drivers issue – When the OSD TS is performed on the Lenovo M91 the USB device drivers are not recognized, and hence, I cannot move mouse and/or keyboard and must use Remote Control in order to RDP to the machine.

I've tried to create separate OSD TS to Lenovo M91 and apply specific device driver packages and to try installing the MSI package for the Intel Chipset as application after OSD TS completes but no luck.

Any other idea in order to properly install the USB drivers for Lenovo M91p with Windows 10 on the SCCM OSD TS?

Local / Group policy not applying after Task Sequence completes - Win10

$

So the task sequence completes without error and the machine is joined to the domain.  Immediately following the completed TS we are left at the Beach screen (which we have actually disabled in local policy) and we can logon with a domain user account. Once we login and reach the desktop I can immediately see Group and Local Policy hasn't applied as the various policy customizations are not present.  If we manually run gpupdate /force we receive the error "GroupPolicy (Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy)" and Event ID 1058: "The processing of Group Policy failed. "  We are also unable to access the SYSVOL and NETLOGON DFS shares.

Currently, in testing, it takes two manual reboots after the TS has completed in order for local and group policy to be fully applied.  Not ideal!  We are using Windows 10 1511 LTSB.  OSD is via SCCM 1602.  Eventually once the reboots have taken place we are able to access the SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares and everything is rosey.

Please help, I have been tearing my hair out over this!  I thought it might be related to UNC Hardening but I've tried adding the reg keys in but it makes no difference.  This is the thread I'm referring to: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/6a20e3f6-728a-4aa9-831a-6133f446ea08/gpos-do-not-apply-on-windows-10-enterprise-x64?forum=winserverGP

Group Policy refresh after a task sequence has completed

Hi

I would like to force a Group policy refresh after my OSD task sequence has completed.  At the moment, my TS completes, I get the Deployment Complete window and I click on Start Windows.  Windows starts up but my Computer based Group Policies have not applied so I need to restart the machine immediately.

My question is, how can I refresh group policy but still retain the Deployment Complete window ?  I have tried using theSMSTSPostAction Task Sequence variable to set a gpupdate /force to run after the TS completes but it just hangs.  I set it to gpupdate /force /wait:0and this seems to run and I get my Deployment Complete window, but my Group Policy still isn't applying.  I have tried setting theSMSTSPostAction Task Sequence variable to shutdown /r which reboots the machine, but then i don't get the Deployment Complete window at the end of the build.

Any other ideas ?

Cheers

Software Center Task Sequence Deploy via WiFi - What happens?

$

We a few thousand tablets around the country to upgrade/re-image to Windows 10 and they are all on WiFi. From what I've read, OSD via WiFi is "tricky". We've accepted the fact that we'll probably need our users to plug in to a wired connection to get re-imaged.

my question is - what happens if I deploy a task sequence to a device on WiFi?  Will it fail dependency checks? Will it copy down bits, format the drive then leave it in a useless state?

I need to make sure re-imaging doesn't occur unless the device is connected to a wired network.

thanks,

Dan

No boot filename recieved, SCCM 2012 R2

Hello,

I've searched the forum posts for an answer to my problem without any luck.

Environment:

4 VMs.

First, DC with DHCP.

Second, SCCM 2012 R2.

Third, SQL server.

Fourth, Client.

Problem:

The DC is on a different subnet than the rest of the VMs. I've added 066 at DHCP and the client got its dynamic IP. The problem is now that the boot file cant be found. Why? I think I've done everything right at the SCCM configuration, added system image, installer, boot and task.. WDS is also started. SMSPXE.log doesn't give me anything.. PXE-E53: No boot filename received followed by exiting Intel PXE ROM..

I'm stuck. Please halp.

Regards

[SOLVED] No Mouse Cursor During Windows 10 OSD

$

We're piloting Windows 10 and occasionally OSD fails at which point we launch a shell and check the logs.  If this happens while the machine is still in WinPE, all is well.  However, if it fails in the OS (meaning any time after the 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr' step), the mouse cursor isn't visible/present.  In fact, even during the deployment the mouse cursor isn't visible, be it before an error is encountered or what ends up being a successful OSD.  I should note that if I close the OSD TS failure message and let the machine boot (or reboot) into the OS, the cursor is visible and all is well.

This appears to be unique to Windows 10 OSD's as the cursor is visible in Windows 7 OSD's throughout the entire process, failure or not.

Are others seeing this?
Is this a conscious change for Windows 10 OSD?  Or a possible indication a possible site-specific issue?

Issue integrating MDT 2013 SP2 with SCCM 2012 SP1 1602

We just attempted to integrate MDT 2013 SP2 into our current branch SCCM 2012 Management Point (we only have the one). Though it says it was successful, and I do see the MDT drop down in the Task Sequence list, none of the MDT options are available from any SCCM Admin Console except for the one from the Management Point. This screen snip is from my console. Notice the BDD in front of all the MDT options. There is something obviously wrong there. It looks normal when using the console while logged directly into the Management Point server however.

Here is the error I get when attempting to select one of the MDT options from the drop down menu:

Any one else experience this issue? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

prestage media with offline domain join

Hi guys,

I have received a challenging task. I have created a few prestage media to install OS without DP using USB stick. The original plan was to run this task in remote branch with pour connection and no DP. During this task computer with was also joined to domain. Now customer increase the challenge by requesting the offline domain join so to be able to run entire task with no network connection.

Environment has all DC on 2012 R2 and deployed OS client is windows 10. Appreciate any advice :).

Thanks.

Issue build and Capture SCCM 2012R2 with Hyper-V 2012R2 GEN-1 VM

Hi All,

I am in the process of creating an golden Image for Windows 7 SP1 x64 using SCCM 2012R2, installed on Windows Server 2012R2.

To create an image I created a build and Capture TS from scratch using default settings.

The build VM is not joined to the domain, I added the SMSMP = fqdn and DNSSuffix=fqdn to the client settings.

The process goes well until the VM is being captured, It start with scanning and capturing volume 1, which is ok.

Then the process starts scanning Volume 2 (Windows volume) then the VM reboots. The logs do not reveal anything, they go only up until the system reboots after sysprep. After the failed capture, a WIM file is created of 7 MB size.

I read on another forum that the workaround for this is to shutdown the VM after Sysprep phase and then power it up again. That works for me too. Now the VM image is captured properly.

When I use the same TS on a Laptop, the TS finishes correctly, capturing the installation. Dont have to shut it down.

Any ideas what could be wrong here?

Some additional info:

Hyper-V 2012R2 hosts are patched.

The VM in use is Gen-1 with a legacy nic.

AV on the SCCM server is shutdown for testing.

Share permissions for WIM location are ok and accessible for Build and Capture client (used F8 to check)

DHCP settings and DNS are ok, the client get's proper IP and can resolve SCCM MP and shares.

Small WIM File While Capturing 2008 R2 Server OS Reference in a VM

$

I've been trying to capture a reference image from a hyper-v VM off a 2008 R2 server OS. It seems I'm able to capture the image, but the WIM file seems very small. Its only about 8MB and that's not right. In SCCM where I imported it under Operating Systems Images and then view properties I see it listed under Select Images You Want To View as 1 - None where as in the past I've seen that section in 2012 R2 list 1-1 and 2-2. Not sure what I am missing here.

I'm running on a System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager SP1 with Windows ADK 8.1, and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012 Update 1.

I made the task sequence media ISO in SCCM and then went through the wizard in the 2008 R2 VM to create the WIM file.

I'm trying to see what I may have overlooked or if maybe there is a better way to make this WIM file and get it into SCCM Operating Systems?

Thanks for your suggestions.

We have just purchased some new dell optiplex 7040 pc,

We use MDT to deploy our os however with these new pc's we getting following message.   Invalid credentials: The network locationcannot be reached.

When i press F8 there are not connection when i type ip config there is no ip address.

I have the imported the very latest drivers and updated my deployment share.

I have checked the password in the boot.ini and custom.ini and they are correct, i dont think its a credential issue because I can build other pcs fine.  I have also checked the Windows PE driver injection to ensure that its checked to include all network drivers.

I using windows 2012 R2 Standard,

workbench deployment is 6.3.8290.1000

can anybody offer any assistance.

SCCM Windows 10 - SCCM client doesnt get installed

$

I wasn’t sure if anyone can help with the Windows 10 OS deployment.

The task sequence failed at the point where SCCM tries to install the client software on the machine.

at the moment, for all windows 10 machines, I need to use a cmd line to skip the prerequisite to install the SCCM client, see below:

\\yau-ds1-vmg01\SCCM_Installation\SMSSETUP\CLIENT\CCMSetup.exe /skipprereq:windowsupdateagent30-x64.exe;Silverlight.exe;dotnetfx40_client_x86_x64.exe /mp:yau-ds1-vmg01.yancoal.com.au SMSSITECODE=DS1

I've noticed that SCCM was checking for the same prereq in the task sequence, but I was unable to put a command line in the actual TS.

Do we need to update the version of the client?

"Run Command Line" Task Not Copying Package

$

Hello,

I'm trying to run a Powershell script during post-install OSD which needs to talk to Active Directory. I was initially passing username/password as TS variables but discovered those were stored in the log files so... not good.

Now i'm trying to "Run Command Line" the powershell script and use the "Run this step as the following account" checkbox to run under the service account.

unfortunately, I'm finding that the command line is failing and when I drop to command line to look around, I see all the packages I would expect except for the package that I checked in the "Run Command Line" task. The package that has the powershell is missing.

I have very few clues in the logs but I'm wondering if this task sequence object uses the "run as" account to download the package as well as run it? and maybe my service account doesn't have access to the content?

Dell Touch Screen Models do not image properly with SCCM 2012 R2 UDI

$

We recently started receiving Dell Touch Screen Models, including a Dell Latitude E7270 Touchscreen and a Dell Optiplex 7440 AIO. We have found that while they seem to image succesfully and all drivers are succesful with these models, they dont treat the UDI Task sequence correctly. After the build has completed using SCCM 2012 R2 UDI there is no deployment complete window and first login can take up to 30 minutes. During the first login the UDI Deployment complete window finally appears

The only workaround I have found at the moment is to disable the Touchscreen option in the BIOS and then image the workstations.

We imaged Microsoft Surface Pro Models (which have Touchscreen) with no issues.

Has any one else had this problem? Is it a WinPE issue? Do I need to inject drivers into the WinPE Boot image?
