SCCM 2012 OS Deployment Failure 0x80070032

Evening All,

I am a little bit of a Noob when it comes to setting up OSD's from scratch and I imagine that it is something stupid I have done.  Anyways, I am getting a failure when the task sequence hits the Applying OS portion of the task sequence.  I imagine that it is something in the task sequence that is causing it to fail, but not sure what to add.  Here is the SMTS log as it pertains to the failure codes I am getting.  Any help is appreciated.

System: SCCM 2012

Image: x64 Windows 10

Deployment: UEFI boot via USB media that points to the DP

Here are the logs:

OSD + MDT 2013 - Specify credentials for connecting to network share

I can't for the life of me figure out why MDT isn't auto populating the credentials specified in the bootstrap.ini where it maps a drive to the database server.

I've tried brand new MDT databases, brand new MDT Settings and Files packages, the lot - nothing lets me get past this prompt.

When i enter in the credentials I've got in the bootstrap.ini (and customsettings.ini) manually - it connects without issue and in to the DB to run it's select queries and the whole OSD process finishes just fine.

It's just failing to automatically populate these settings at the beginning of use toolkit package.

I've searched far and wide and yet to find a solution that works my environment, and nothing has helped.

I'm running MDT 2013 Update 2, latest version, with ConfigMgr 1606, & Windows ADK 10.1.10586

Anyone able to offer advice?

Failed to save environment to (80070057) when deploying Windows 10

Hi all,

When I try to deploy Windows 10 using MDT 2013 Update 2, I get the error "Failed to save environment to (80070057)" when starting task sequence engine. I have tried changing ImageOSVer as suggested here:

https://tomasrk.wordpress.com/2015/04/16/sccm-2012-r2-error-0x80070057-unable-to-apply-os-target-destination-not-found/

But no hope. I can deploy Windows 7 no problems. I'd love to upload unattended, smssts.log, and bdd.log files, but am unsure how to do that on this forum (this is the first time I've asked on technet myself)

Slow download speeds, OSD - System Center 1607

I know this was an issue a few years ago, but that was a much older version. I'm with a new company now and we recently setup imaging via SCCM.

We are using SCCM 1607, PXE 10.0.14393.0

The OS download part of the imaging process takes absolutely forever.

PXE server is located on the same subnet as the client.

Distribution Point is virtual on Server 2012 R2.

Any advice much appreciated.

Execution of Group (Install Applications) Fails - Failed to run the action Install Application (80004005)

Hi All,

After discovering the problem with initiating the task sequence, I've run into a secondary problem.

My task sequence is successful up until the fourth app is installed via my Install Applications group. We currently have two sites, our main office and our secondary satellite group. Our main office houses the primary SCCM management/distribution server, while the secondary site holds a pull distribution point to alleviate link load. The task sequence has been tested at our main offices, but has given me no amount of grief at the satellite location.

I have verified the files at the pull DP, and have re-distributed as well to no avail. The problem occurs only around the fourth app install, eventually terminating the sequence with the generic error:

Failed to run the action: Install Endpoint Security. Unspecified error (Error:800040005; Source: Windows

All previous applications install as intended, but I have yet to try continuing the sequence even if an install fails. The task sequence has been tested at both sites on the same machine. I've checked through smsts.log and this was the only real information that stuck out, as previous apps share the same general procedure in the logs.

If there's a general step procedure I should follow to troubleshoot this that would be useful.

Thanks,

Dusty.

Is SCCM 2012 R2 support officially Windows server 2016 ?

Hello,

Till now, the OS windows server 2016 is not supported officially on SCCM  2012 r2, even on the CU4 OF sccm 2012 r2 the no mention about Windows server 2012 the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3195483.

Did you found a workaround ?

Many Thanks

Black desktop background after refresh

So i know that the background isn't migrated during offline migration. I am trying to script it to set it back to img0.jpg. Running something like this isn't working:

Function Set-WallPaper($Value)
 {
    Set-ItemProperty -path 'HKCU:\Control Panel\Desktop\' -name wallpaper -value $value
    rundll32.exe user32.dll, UpdatePerUserSystemParameters
 }

I read somewhere it is because that is only for BMP files. Is anyone else currently doing something like this or have any ideas what else to try?

SCCM 2012 OS Deployment Failure with error 80070057

Evening All,

I am getting this error when getting to the Applying OS portion of the task sequence.  I have read numerous articles from setting variables to editing the UEFI partitions in the task sequence and havent gotten anything to work.  Getting this error when booting from USB or PXE.  I thought maybe the USB was causing an issue with drive letters, which I have seen before but that doesnt seem to be the issue since I am getting the same thing with PXE.

Any ideas?

Can't create Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Files package

$

Hi,

I'm having difficulties lining up the version of SCCM with all of the pre-requisites to make OSD function properly.

Currently I'm running; ConfMgr 2012 SP2 + MDT 2013 U1 + ADK 10.

I thought I had it all lined up, but now I'm getting this issue creating a MDT Task sequence that I can't seem to get passed. I don't have an existing Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Files package, and it won't let me create one. See picture below. Any thoughts? Is there a document or a matrix that says for a given version of SCCM you need this version of MDT and ADK to be able to image Windows 7 or 8.1 or 10, etc.?

OSD Task Sequence hanging at "Setup is installing devices"

$

We are running ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 R2.  This is a standalone primary site.  We created a task sequence to install our corporate image.  It was working fine but we upgraded from RTM to SP1 recently and it stopped working.  I can't say for sure that was the cause but it started happening around the same timeframe.

The task sequence is hanging during the Windows Setup phase on the black screen that says "Setup is installing devices" and it has a percentage.  It usually hangs somewhere between 58 - 62% and won't move on.  smsts.log doesn't tell anything so I started studying the Windows Setup logs.  It's hard to say which errors matter and which don't and they are quite lengthy.

I filtered for "!!!" setupapi.dev.log and came up with this:

Hi

I need to execute a powershell script before os install to enable tpm chip in bios.

The script is tested local on a laptop and is working

- Where in the task sequence should it be (of course before os :-) )  ?

- How to execute command line or powershell in tast sequence ?

Thanks in advance

stand alone task sequence media fails to install script applications

I have created OSD stand alone media from a task sequence that works fine during PXE installation but  some of the applications fail to be installed running from usb stand alone media.  I have narrowed it down to only the application that are created using a script fail the standard msi application install fine.

using SCCM 1602

HP Zbook Studio G3 BSOD's upon first reboot when OS and drivers have been deployed

I am using SCCM 2012 R2 to deploy an image Windows 7 Ent SP1 x64 to this system. I use this same image for all other HP devises with no issues. I downloaded and expanded the driver package SP73082 and installed those drivers on SCCM like I have for all other devices. Upon the completion of installing the OS and drivers and at the first reboot the system will BSOD and restart, at which point I attempt to stop the page from changing with no luck, so am unable to capture the error code that is being generated. I validated that the drivers were the correct ones, the number of files and folders are the same. I even changed the amount of RAM to see if that was the issue to no avail.

Troubleshooting steps:

I have validated that the drivers are the correct ones for this model and OS.
I have verified that the drivers are setup correctly within SCCM 2012 and are being pushed out to the system during the installation process.
There is nothing that shows this system is failing to load any of the drivers or that it is having an issue with the OS.
The system once the initial reboot happens continues to BSOD. Even attempting to load in safe mode does not resolve. Loads up to disk.sys and fails.

I used this image today to image a HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G2 with no issues so I know the image is working.

I also verified that the drivers when uncompressed match what was imported into SCCM to deploy to this system.

Any assistance with understanding what could be causing this would be great.

Post upgrade WinPE errors

As most of the companies I have upgraded my SCCM to 1610 as well, The upgrade passed successfully without any issue.

But from at point, I cannot deploy images or reach to WinPE anymore.
This is the client side while waiting to WinPe {F12}

Here is the log from SMSPXE:

<o:p></o:p>

I have more 8 DP's which are not working as well, same problem.
I tried to uncheck and check the PXE from DP's did not help, I tried to clear
PXE requests  didn't help restart the services as well.<o:p></o:p>

restart
WDS didn't help. I created new BOOT Images and checked the @Deploy this boot
image from the PXE-enabled Distribution Point@ and it doesn't work.<o:p></o:p>

I do
not think it is related to WDS services. something is very weird here.<o:p></o:p>

Also
here I hear something very similar:<o:p></o:p>

https://prajwaldesai.com/install-sccm-configmgr-current-branch-update-1610/<o:p></o:p>

Guys,
what do you think the problem is it?, I have spent 4 days for this problem and
do not understand what is wrong.<o:p></o:p>

I have
Windows Server 2012R2 post upgraded from Server 2008R2.<o:p></o:p>

Anti-Virus
is disabled.<o:p></o:p>

Just mention that before
the upgrade everything worked properly

OSD variables

I have wrote a VBS script to get task sequence variable to be populated with dynamic application variables

Set objTSEnv = CreateObject("Microsoft.SMS.TSEnvironment")

next I am planning to read a excel sheet and then populate Dynamic variables for application installation to tasksequence environment variable as shown below..

objTSEnv(APP??) = objWS.Cells(i,6)

In the task sequence I created a base variable as "APP"..

can I know what variable I should update with APPLICATION ID ?

Windows 10 1511 to 1607 Upgrade Error: 80004005

Attempting to do a Windows 10 1511 to 1607 OS Upgrade Task Sequence from SCCM 2012 (1610).  The task sequence begins on the client and passes the pre-req check and then downloads the WIM to be used for the upgrade in my case to:  c:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\[PackageID]\install.wim.  The next step according to the SMSTS.log is a DISM check of the downloaded install.wim file which is incorrectly looking at the path  :  c:\_SMSTaskSequence\Packages\[PackageID]\Sources\install.wim.  These two paths don't match and the task sequence fails.  Any ideas how to correct?

SCCM 2012 capturing image on a laptop - error "unable to read task sequence configuration disk"

This same laptop I just capture cleanly. All I did was apply the image to it and run MS updates to it to date. Then I am trying to re-capture to c:\capture and I can only get to a reboot with this error and cannot get out of it.

Error 0x080070714 capturing image stuck in reboot and will not complete

I have a Windows 10 image that I had previously captured using USB media to the local C: drive in a folder named capture.

I added some extra applications that were needed and now I cannot capture the image no hardware changes.
