Simple questioin about SCCM 2012 R2 SP2 ADK for Windows 8.1

Hi,

I have SCCM 2012 R2 SP2 ADK for Windows 8.1. using above one I am deploying Windows 10 (Clean installation through PXE and Bootable Media), it is all working fine... However, my question:is it technically wrong to deploy Windows 10 while SCCM server use Windows 8.1 ADK??

Newlly, I have to try a scenario where I have to use USMT in TS for Windows 7 & 10... I am sure TS will fail to use ADK 8.1 to Windows 10 computers, socan I create new USMT package from ADK 1606 without deploying it on the server? o r this is technically wrong?

Thanks

Hi, I recently wiped an old computer of mine clean and now I am trying to download a newer OS. The computer used to run windows xp home edition and now I am trying to download win 8.1 onto it. When I plug in the bootable flashdrive and restart the computer it goes into an infinite loop of rebooting with the windows logo then restarting. Shortly before it restarts on its own This flashes on screen-

Hi,

Is it possible to deploy OS Offline using SCCM 2012 R2 Task Sequence.

Is there any step-by-step guide available to implement the same.

Hi Dear Sir,

I have created task sequence for refresh scenario in SCCM 2012 R2 SP2, enablement as below:

  1. Boot Image 64 bit
  2. Select my master image
  3. Clear selection of partition and format
  4. Clear selection of bitlocker
  5. Supply local admin password
  6. Join domain
  7. select my sccm client package
  8. Capture user settings + save locally + Capture locally by using hardlink
  9. Capture network + capture ms windows

My questions:

  • before running TS:OS is installed on drive C
  • when I am applying TS on computers, I am getting: wiping Drive D, then Apply image to volume D!!!!
  • after it finish, the OS drive letter is X or D, and all user profile are not available
  • What should I do, so I can have my OS on C and user data inplace?

SCCM PXE Boot Issue

I completed a restore to my primary site. I use a another server (site system site) to handle my imaging as far a pxe. Every since the restore of the primary site I get the following blue screen when trying to pxe machine.

Your PC needs to be repaired,

The windows boot configuration data (BCD) file from the PXE server does not contain a valid OS entry.

File:\tmp\x86{10eb2dc6-bce4-4dbf-b8d9-2a63f2950285].bcd

error code 0x0000098

I have tried the following:

I redistributed the boot packages both x64 and x86, I uninstalled reinstalled pxe and rebooted the server.  I have also check the dhcp 66 and 67 options to make sure setting are correct.  Please let me know if you have seen this.  Thanks.

ADK 10 1607 802.1x not able to load DOT3CFG.DLL

Hi,

Recently we upgraded some test environment to sccm CB 1610. After upgrade we installed ADK 10 1607. All upgrades seems succesful. I creating a fresh bootimage with installed boot.wim (v 10.0.14393.0) and included WinPe-Dot3Svc in the sccm console. Also here there are no errors thrown.

But when I boot my fresh image and try to use the netsh lan commands to update lan profiles for 802.1x there is an error telling me that it is impossible to load DLL helper DOT3CFG.DLL.

I also tryed to include the package with dism but the same error occures. I have search for a powershell alternative but apparently it does not exist.

I googled a lot. But the only close thing i can find is http://ccmexec.com/2016/09/dot3svc-does-not-load-using-winpeadk-1607/ But also here no solution.

anyone have an idea?

How to disable high risk deployment check

Since the update to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1, I can't deploy my task sequences to "All Systems" anymore. I get a message "TS has the potential to be a high risk deployment."

I have tried to disable this by changing my sites Deployment Verification settings:

Can somebody please tell me how I can completely disable this kind of checks?

Thanks!

Create TS media - The system cannot find the file specified

I get the following error below when trying to Create Task Sequence Media to make a bootable USB drive to capture a reference image. My x64 boot image is deployed to the distribution point successfully, and has been imported successfully, and yet somehow the task sequence cannot find it. I simply don't understand.

Error: Task sequence media information

Media type: Removable USB drive

Removable USB drive: F:\

Boot image: Boot

Distribution point(s): 001SRV-SCCM2012.TELGIAN.LOCAL

Total size of media content, MB:  271

Errors

Media creation failed with error message: 'The system cannot find the file specified. Refer to CreateTsMedia.log file to find more details.

I cannot find the log file the system is mentioning. I have looked in the configuration manager installation path in the logs folder, it is not there. Our SCCM server is virtualized within VMware Vsphere ESX and is not on the same subnet as our DHCP server, yet the server share that I imported the boot image from is mapped correctly and SCCM can access it with no problems.

Reinstall a computer - move to collection or delete ?

I have a very basic question, but can't seem to find an answer for it.

If we install a new computer through sccm, then it picks up the task sequence from the unknown collection.

But what to do if we need to reinstall the machine, after the user has left the company or just because it needs to be reinstalled (windows issues) or he needs to have an upgrade from windows 8 to 10

do we delete the computer from sccm, so it is again an unknown computer or do i create a new collection called something like reinstall and deploy the same tasksequence i did to the unknown collection, so we do not need to delete the computer from sccm.

so basicly Delete the computer from sccm or make a collection.

and why ?

Bitlocker Recovery during task sequence

Recently we have this issue, that when te computer makes a reboot after the tasksquence it asks for the bitlocker key, which is saved in our AD-server.

Anyone have any idea why and how to fix this, because after we give the key it still runs the client configuration, before it is completely finished

Deploy Windows 7 x64 Ent using an MDT UDI

Hi there,

I am talking over a system with no hand over document.....

Currently we have a SCCM/MDT integrated Task Sequence with a MDT UDI to deploy Windows 7 x86 and this deploys successfully. I am now trying to deploy a Windows 7 x64 image and have copied the TS and replaced the image and sysprep answer file for a Windows 7 x64 image. This fails on applying the image?

The SMSTS.log file does not give much information back on why this has failed. Would you have any other ideas?

Update OS Image

Hello,

I have been following guide to create a new WIM file:

http://blog.techygeekshome.info/2016/02/sccm-inject-windows-updates-into-wim-image-files-using-windows-10/

We do this every 3 months so we're not downloading lots of updates for each Desktop we create.

Bear in mind that we don't have WSUS integrated with SCCM. This is based on another server.

We did this by going into Software Library --> Operating System --> Operating System Images and pointing at the WIM file.

We then went into task Sequences and copied the previous task sequence adapting it to point at our image.

Content distributed and deployed but when we boot through PXE we don't see these updated images.

Any steps on what else we can check or perhaps a particular log file could be checked.

Regards,

David

Windows 10 Upgrade 1607 - Error 0xC1800188 (-1048575720)

Hey,

We are getting following error "0xC1800118(-1048575720)” when we try to install 1607 on a 1511-client in Software Center. The Upgrade-deployment is set though a collection (Individual deployment type).

This is what we have done so far:

- Confirmed that "KB3159706" is installed on the Wsus server - https://support.microsoft.com/sv-se/kb/3159706

- Deleted the upgrade package from Configmgr.

- Followed following instructions - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3194588

Got about 480 so it was in a bad state, but now it's all down to 0.

-Re-downloaded it and deployed it again, but no luck. Also tried to install it on a newly installed client.

Some related information about the environment:

SCCM Version 1602

WSUS  Role - The Primary SCCM server.

This is the collected logs from the client from "c:\Windows.~BT", the "setupact"-log was to long to post here.

Upgrading PXE boot performance of TFTP value size increasion.

Hello guys,

I hope are some who made PXE performance of SCCM server.

Its enough to increase value on this registry key of TFTP? On network maximum transmission unit is 1500B.

IF value of RamDiskTFTPBlockSize increased more that MTU of network packages of network can be dropped.

IF value lower - can slowly downloaded.

Its enought to change this value on ALL pxe servers?

Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\DP
Name: RamDiskTFTPBlockSize
TYPE: REG_DWORD
Value: 16384 (change radio button to decimal)

Or together (both) should i change this one in ALL pxe ?

SCCM 2012 1610 extremely slow donwloads, driver related.

We have SCCM 2012 SP1 running 1610.  The issue we have is with clients downloading the PE and image file from the server.  It takes forever for most clients to download the PE and the OS wim.  What I was able to identify with our network monitoring tools is when the machines boot into the PE environment the network card auto negotiates its speed to 10MBS half.  When these models are booted normally into windows they auto negotiate 100 MBS full.  This leads me to believe we have a driver issue. I am seeing this at multiple sites and only when we are doing OS deployments.  If anyone has experience with this please reply, thanks.

We modified the registry to on the server to decrease the bits size with per a Microsoft techs advice.  That helped some but not with our particular issue.  The issue really is the NIC card is going to 10 MBPS instead of 100 or 1GBPS.  And this only happens during the reimage process.

OSD problem with HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF + Windows Professional 7 64-bit

Hi all,

I'm trying to deploy windows 7 x64 on Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF machines but I'm having an issue with importing network drivers (for I219) into my boot image, i have tried a number of times to import the drivers into configuration manager but after import wizard it shows as I217 but not I219. I also tried to manually upload the drivers on target machine with drvload. though the command was succeeded but it does not showing any IP address on NIC. the same boot image is working fine for G1 model. I have gone through a number of blogs from MS and HP but couldn't find the solution. We are using SCCM 2012 with WADK 8.1 on server 2008 R2.

I have tried with supported drivers from HP sp72515.exe for I219 Ethernet controller but after importing these drivers in configuration manager it is shoing as I217-LM but not I219 . Also, uploading the drivers on target machine with drvload and with command to initializte "wpeutil initializeNetwork" the network does not showing IP address on NIC.

I have tried to find the driver from microsoft site "https://catalog.update.microsoft.com" for latest driver matching the vendor ID for device id PCI\\VEN_8086&DEV_15B7.

the initial two links were not working but other drivers when manually uploaded on target machine with drvload not showing any IP address. though the command was successful. When trying to import drivers in configuration manager it failed with error not compatible.

Below is the logs from smsts.log file.

hello:

I want to know which boot images can be used to deploy the Windows 8.1 by adding system image or operating system installer architecture in a task sequence

For  with x86 boot image  which operating system image and operating system installer architecture are supported

For  with x64 boot image  which operating system image and operating system installer architecture are supported

thank you

Deploying to only certain members of a collection

Forgive the noob question. Can I deploy an application or package to a subset (say 1 member) of a device collection (35 members)?

What I am aiming for is to a test an application to one device and if that goes well, deploy to the rest of the collection members.

Windows PE initialization failed with error code 0x80040154 - Capture Image With Bootable USB

Hello all,

I cannot figure out why the bootable media that I have created with SCCM 2012 will not run Windows PE correctly after a sysprep. I cannot capture an image using the network because we cannot PXE boot with SCCM across subnets.

After the failed WinPE initialization Win10 will not start up. The error says:

Windows Failed to to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.) Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.

2.) Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."

3.) Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
